A friend of mine told me that he had read it here in VJ about vacations in US that a beneficiary should stay within the 48 states so that means Hawaii and Alaska are not included. As what I have known USA has 50 states and that include Hawaii and Alaska.

My fiance and I plan to meet in Hawaii, get married there and stay in Hawaii for only 4-5 days then fly together to California. I am really worried now. We want to get married in Hawaii and was planned already. Now, I am more stressed out. I'm still waiting for my police clearance in japan so that I can have my visa and now here is an additional stress.

Does this mean me and my fiance will not get a chance to spent a few days in Hawaii and have our marriage there? I'm really desperate about this. VJs I need your help.

Your 'friend' is incorrect. Hawaii/Alaska/Nebraska...all the same.. Don't stress it...

Last time I flew to the states I flew via Hawaii (horrible horrible airport!) and I passed through immigrations there and did not have to pass through again when I got to my next airport (in the Continental United States.) So I can not see that there would be any problem. You do pass through customs, but that is for other reason, they did not check my visa.

I lived in Hawaii when my then fiancee flew there to be with me, and which is where we got married. As long as you are on a domestic flight, you will not have to go through immigration/customs, which is in a different terminal.

You do not need to worry about flying to Hawaii from the continental US to get married. The only time you would need to show your passport, is as ID when going through security when departing the airport, either from CONUS, or from Hawaii.

Have a great trip and exciting marriage in Hawaii!

Aloha,

R

What happens if the plane had to divert and land outside the US due to atechinical problem or medical emergency to a person on board. Would you not encounter problems with immigration then? Just a query folks

Stuart

There is nowhere to divert, except back to CA! Even if it were to divert to Canada, which is WAY out of the way, other passengers won't necessarily be carrying their passports with them, so it would be more of an issue with Canada, which is the ONLY possible country to land in, not flying back into the US.

Let's be real here.

1) US Dollars

2) The currency is pegged to the US Dollar so it is 1:1

3) Yes, you can exchange US dollars for US dollars... small fee though

YMMV

Of course... upon your arrival to Hawaii you will go through immigration... Upon entry you are able to freely travel to ALL 50 states not just one
