Hi, this is Anne of Sta. Ana. I and J have been a member of this site for sometime now and I must say that this site has been of great help to us. Plus I've gotten to know some great people whom I've had the opportunity to send my questions with regards to cr1 & k3. Thanks to mypanacea and prettynpink. You've been of great help. Thanks again.

I've got some questions though about civil wedding. I know that only after J (he's from California) has gotten his certificate of legal capacity from US embassy, and that I, copies of cenomar, live birth certificate and among others, only then we would be able to file an application for marriage license. How long would it take to get the license from the municipality/ city hall?(does it normally take a 10 day waiting period?) Is it a necessity that we file the application (for marriage license) at the municipality where I reside? Should J (my fiance) also provide copies of certificate of live birth? Right after we would receive the license, would it be the judge who would set the date (of marriage) or us? (Not being particular about the costs but still, I would like to know) How much would a civil wedding cost? Do we have to pay the judge or the person in authority to conduct marriage?

Hope to hear some answers. Thank you in advance and God bless to everyone.

Hello Anne and Jeff,

Yes! it takes 10 business days from the date you register at your Municipality .And I dont know if in your city you & your bf still need to attend seminars. The cost of your wedding will be up to both of you. It depends on how you want it and where. In our case we and the judge agree for our wedding date. In my case we paid twice, for the judge and for the hall of justice. In what City are you from? Hope this help you a little bit :) . Good Luck

Trisha and I went through this in Aug and got married in September. We both needed to attend family planning as part of getting the license. We had to wait 10 days to get the license. Then another day waiting to find out what Judge would do the ceremony on the day that we selected. Once we had a Judge we needed to work around his schedule for the time. We had to pay the judge and if we wanted the wedding at night or at another location besides the court there were more fees.

Of course the fees will all vary depending upon what City this happens. In our case it was Makati City.

You do need to get the license from your city of residence.

My birth cert from US was not needed. I did need my passport and of course my final divorce decrees.

Love forever,

Dale & Trisha

Yes you are going to apply your marriage license at the city registrar office in your municipality OR anywhere you want to have your wedding...and the processing will take 10 days posting...so on the 11th day you will get your marriage license. Just make sure you bring all the necessary documents. Here in Davao, since I was 25 yrs old when i got marry (which is below 26yrs old) my father had to sign the Parental Guidance thing (weird)...and we had to attend the Guidance and Counseling Seminar which is conducted by the City Health Office...this is a pre-requesite in filing for a marriage license. But if you are 26 yrs old above then you dont need to attend the said seminar...just secure your CENOMAR. SO, while processing your marriage license, start to look for a judge to officiate your wedding. It is up to you if you want to do it in your city's Hall of Justice or request the judge to do the ceremony at your reception. Try to ask some friends who might have a judge friend so you can ask for discounts bwehehe. You can decide for your wedding date then look for a judge who's available on that date. As far as the judge fee, I have no idea on this since we got marry in church...but my friend told me you have to pay extra if you want to bring your judge to your reception.

My best wishes to both of you! :star:

I've got some questions though about civil wedding. I know that only after J (he's from California) has gotten his certificate of legal capacity from US embassy, and that I, copies of cenomar, live birth certificate and among others, only then we would be able to file an application for marriage license. How long would it take to get the license from the municipality/ city hall? It's usually less than 10 days. You just have to keep following it up if they already release your marriage license.

(does it normally take a 10 day waiting period?) Is it a necessity that we file the application (for marriage license) at the municipality where I reside? Yes Anna.

Should J (my fiance) also provide copies of certificate of live birth? Yes, it's being asked to prove citizenship as well as passport. Right after we would receive the license, would it be the judge who would set the date (of marriage) or us? It depends, cos in our case, I choose the date of our wedding, but right after the Civil registrar release your license, they will then schedule your wedding date. (Not being particular about the costs but still, I would like to know) How much would a civil wedding cost? Do we have to pay the judge or the person in authority to conduct marriage? My husband and I just paid Php 4,500 for our whole civil wedding. If I didn't choose the date of our wedding, and we attended the seminar, it would be a lot lesser than what we paid. We just paid our seminar, since its an option that was given by the judge's secretary. And also, it just about family planning and whatsoever...Geez, I believe most of us know what are the different family planning programs available here in the Philippines.

Good luck anna. Hope everything is smooth in your end.

Hope to hear some answers. Thank you in advance and God bless to everyone.
