Interview date scheduled but they used my wife's maiden name!

I called NVC to check if an interview date has been set for my wife. Upon request for my case # the operator then asked for the beneficiary's name (my wife). I told them the name twice and the operator on the phone told me that the last name doesn't match what she has listed on the computer. I then told her my wife's maiden last name and it matched. At this point in time I'm looking like this

So I tell the operator, "How can this be? The marriage certificate, police certificate, & everything is with my wife's new last name. That's how I processed all the paper work. We share the same last name." Operator told me that they changed it in the system because her passport has her maiden name.

Will this be a problem when she gets her visa? This seems like a big mess up. All along my wife was using my last name and suddenly they changed it.

I had problems with my husband's name because of his passport, long story, but the name on all other documents was different except the passport. They said his visa must match the passport name so he had to get another passport with the correct name. I think your wife will have to do the same because the visa must match her passport.

My wife's passport carry's her maiden name. NVC changed my wife's last name (from mine) to match her passport. So based on what your saying, I am assuming they changed the name so that the passport matches the visa even though she carry's my name now. Which then sounds like I have no problem. Am I wrong?

This process is so burdensome.

You don't have a problem in the sense that the visa will work fine, but it will mean all her paperwork will be in her maiden name. Is there any way she can get a new passport showing she has your name now? Otherwise you will have to change her name after she gets here.

^^With such short time I doubt I can do it. But I guess it really doesn't matter since I can change it once she gets to America. My immediate goal is to bring her here. I will inquirer deeper into this and let you know what I scoop up.

Good luck!

Thank you. I spoke to the operator and she said that both names are on the computer and therefore I shouldn't have a problem. At the day of the interview they can sort all of that out. I guess we'll find out more in December.

I would but my dates would defeat the purpose b/c I haven't kept a log. It would inaccurate to say the least. If you want to ask me any questions drop it here or PM me.
