So, I'm looking at the people on our ballot. Of particular interest are the presidential candidates for the Alaska Independence Party (AIP):

Chuck Baldwin / Darrell Castle (Alaskan Independence)

Chuck Baldwin

7670 Sasser Lane

Pensacola, Florida 32526

Darrell Castle

2586 Hocksett Cove

Germantown, Tennessee 38139

It's interesting that neither of these fellas seems to provide an actual Alaska address. Makes you wonder if their views of Alaskan independence is from the perspective of Alaska, or from the rest of the U.S. (Florida and Tennessee in particular).

Next we have:

Bob Barr / Wayne A. Root (Libertarian)

I guess they don't feel their address is any of the government's business.

After that, we have:

John McCain / Sarah Palin (Republican)

1235 South Clark St., Ste. M

Arlington, VA 22202

Phone: (703) 418-2008

e-mail: johnsmccain@johnmccain.com

Candidate's web site: http://www.johnmccain.com

Clearly their information is designed to indicate that McCain does, in fact, use e-mail.

Next up:

# Ralph Nader / Matt Gonzalez (Independent)

P.O. Box 34103

Washington, DC 20043

Phone: (202) 471-5833

e-mail: ng@votenader.org

Candidate's web site: http://www.votenader.org

The only candidate listing a PO Box as his address - I guess he is making a statement about the role of government in our lives.

Last, but not least:

Barack Obama / Joe Biden (Democrat)

2513 Fairbanks Street

Anchorage, AK 99503

Phone: (907) 677-1532

e-mail: alaska@barackobama.com

Candidate's web site: http://www.ak.barackobama.com

I guess by locating himself on Fairbanks street in Anchorage, Obama figures he has the two major cities in Alaska covered.

We also have a smattering of candidates for Senate - a democrat and republican of course, plus an AIP, Libertarian, and one chap who has no party, and the phrase "Nominating Petition Candidate" next to his name. What the hell does that mean??

For our single House seat, we have three candidates - a democrat, republican, and AIP member.

Then, of course, we have a bunch of state house/senate seats up for sale....uh, I mean, vote.

My main interest is really the propositions and bond issues. It's the only reason why I bother to vote. Looks like we only have one this time around:

Bonding Proposition (Chapter 30, Session Laws of Alaska 2008)

State General Obligation Transportation Project Bonds $315,050,000

Shall the State of Alaska issue its general obligation bonds in the principal amount of not more than $315,050,000 for the purpose of paying the cost of state transportation projects?

Bonds Yes

Bonds No Uh, that will be a big, fat, "no ###### way, Sarah" on that one - thank you very much.

Bah..I'm disappointed I will not get to vote against any propositions or school district bonds this time around.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.
