I got a Top Secret so it's not that hard

That clearance must be DOS or military class TS, as your association with a foreign national will preclude you or make it really difficult to maintain a TS-SCI or above. I lived through that shite, and chose to bail out. As a result, I have a beautiful daughter and wife, make more money and have a better life for the choice.

SSBI, with poly? (Usually a combined process, FYI).

I don't think so. The process for Presidential candidates is quite different and usually less stringent. As a US Citizen, they get a pass, as the press will usually do the dirty work of a background investigator. The FBI along with Secret Service will obviously do the basic background checks, SS verification, DL, Credit, Triple I and extensive door knocking.... If the candidate makes it through all of that, it is unlikely they have/or can be turned. Or so we hope.....

I'm sure it is. I am also sure that at this point it is pretty pointless to hope for silly dirt to turn up on anyone. For all practical matters, the only candidate that spent quality time under potential Manchurian conditions would be McCain. But you don't have people making silly claims based on sheer stupidity.
