Ive noticed many people on this site who have filed their petitions longer than 6 months ago, sometimes even longer than 1 year.

I was curious to know if theres any pattern with these specific petitions. and if theres any particular reasons some petitions dont get approved for so long?

Also, ive noticed several petitions have taken longer than 6 months and they have been those with lawyers. . . do petitions filed by lawyers take longer??

what is an explanation? whats the longest wait we have witnessed for the k1 visa?

also im talking mostly about the non RFE petitions

Please give any input or advice you have, I really appreciate it!

I've been on this site just over 2 years and only from my experience can I say that the reasons I've personally read for people having a long time wait has been some real backlogs at some of the service centres. Two years ago, all unapproved petitions were sent back or had additional paperwork requested (IMBRA) and that put some people's petition back a month or two.

I think what you're meaning is how long it can take after the petition is approved at either CSC, or VSC, and forwarded. I would suggest that it's usually based on country of the beneficiary, and of course the ever annoying security reviews and such.

I don't think things are necessarily longer with a lawyer, but they're most definitely not shorter. This is to mean that having a lawyer doesn't speed anything up.

The first line of your question is the 6 months...which is probably about average. I'll let others jump in to see what their perspective is.
