Good review Poprocks! I have one question though, the interviewer told you that you had to have a witness since you're marrying on the beach.... Is that because you're marrying in NJ and you require a witness in NJ? I got married in PA and this state does not require any witnesses and we didn't have one.... so just curious why she said you have to have one....

I went on the OCNJ site sndbi also called. They said that we need a witness to even get a license! Which I thought was weird...now we have to find someone to come apply with us who has known us for a while...what a pain...do maybe they do require for wedding too end she knew that? Guess we'll find out!

I posted an SSN and name change question in one of the regular forums....I may move it here...takes so long to get a response out there sometimes....

Jill I'll likely email u with a ton of questions! Lol'! :)

I've had many people send me PMs regarding the forms and the number of copies we had to submit. So, I thought I'd post our experience here!

Anyway, I printed one copy of everything (156, 156K, 160 online and confirmation page, DS-230, and I-134). Then, I made 2 copies of each. When we were at the first window the first time, he asked for 2 copies of every form - I think except the 156K. That's the "don't sign until in front of consular officer form". So, with my original and 2 copies, I gave him the original and one copy of everything. That way, just in case, I'd still have a copy for my files if necessary. Good thing I did!

I think some people think 2 copies means original plus 2 copies. From our experience, what they're looking for is an original signature on at least one on a form plus a copy of the form/signature is good OR two original signatures on two forms (if you can't make copies).

Hope this helps!

We're emailing montreal today for a new packet 3... I hope they let us submit everything without it... tired of waiting..

You have to send in the checklist that they send you, and it says that everything must be sent in at the same location, I felt the same way though, but they were really speedy about getting it to me the 2nd time around.

we e-mailed them to get a new packet 3, and see if we can submit the ds 160 online, and schedule the medical appointment - they cryptically replied with only this:

Please visit on line at http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/reciprocity/index.htm

now we are really confused.

I spoke to the state dept on Friday. they said you can submit things with out the packet 3 checklist, they just prefer it if you not do that...

Frustrating... did you call them or e-mail them to get your new packet 3?

I really think it depends on who you get at the window. A fellow V'jer was beside me, and I noticed he asked for originals and copies of things the lady asked only for one copy from me. The only original thing she asked to see was my 1-134 and I had a notorized one that was sent to me and the original birth certificate. Everything else was just a photocopy. I had all this paper with me and took the majority of it back with me. I hardly got asked any questions, at the window or at my interview. She sent me to pay my $131 visa fee and told me to come right back to her. Alot of people I noticed were went to pay their fee and then had to sit back down and wait. I had good luck all around. At least I have copies for myself!

Just don't sign 156K... that's the one you have to sign in front of the consular officer! :)

We started filling out forms back in February, but didn't date them until later. I think our earliest date on a form was from the beginning of March and we had an interview on April 16... and all was good. :) Filling out forms ahead of time good, becuase then you can keep using one form to fill out another form since they all seem to ask the same questions in different words and in different orders.
