Well my packet 4 came today. So I thought I would take a run to the post office and get my National Express Post Envelope. Another $25. bucks gone. WHOLLY! Just wanted to tell everyone that doesn't know already when you buy one of those envelopes you need to tell them that you want to purchase the signature sticker ahead of time. I said to the guy at the counter, it's going to need signature request, he said no problem, when it gets dropped in the mail they tell them at the post office. (However, they are charged to put the little sticker on it to require signature.)

The lady that was working at the next wicket overheard me and said to him, I think she wants to purchase the signature required sticker ahead of time. Just in case anyone didn't know. We don't want anything holding up the process.

Hey I also seen it the letter it says you can pay US 131. or the Canadian Equilv. I think I will just go get the US cash.

I agree, We're almost scared to actually sit down and figure out how much this whole process has cost so far with the running around to get things, the costs and fees for everything. Today I called about my emission standards letter to bring my car across the border and that's going to cost me $85 dollars. When will it end! No wonder there are so many illegals living in the US.

Yea I'm just starting to accept the costs myself. From I-129F to the interview I've easily spent over $1000 CDN--and that was before Dr. Seiden raised the medical price. I just found out a few weeks ago that AOS costs $1010 USD.

So I paid around 1k for the right to enter the states for marriage without getting turned back... and another 1k to stay, live, and work.

No kidding. All that money for immigration, AND a wedding, AND a honeymoon. I'm an American marrying a Canadian, I'm NOT rich and neither is he!!! LOL

I know right?! Silly us for wanting the white wedding... But I stand by my decision! What are you guys doing? We have a small guest list of 50 people, nice outdoor ceremony and then a reception and dinner after. I wanted the traditional wedding just on a smaller scale... And the honeymoon? Where? Were going to Disneyworld (haha i know right? kids at heart  )

Oh, we're doing the whole white wedding kit & kaboodle! My family alone is 100... I've got a gazillion relatives and just about as many friends that I still keep in touch with... oyyy. We're HOPING only 150 attend, but there's almost 350 on the list. I'm thinking that since most of the invitees are still in AZ, they'll wait for a post-wedding party out there. At least, that's what I'm truly hoping for! Plus, we're doing the Hawaii thing... that's for me. LOL He even said so. It's my "prize" for doing everything for the wedding, managing this whole K1 thing, and not going into Bridezilla mode at all. Yea me!!! Okay, so I'm a bit of a princess, but my mother is also encouraging the princess in me for wanting the whole white wedding thing. I'm her only child, so I guess... well, I don't discourage her. :P

My Petie wants to do the whole Vegas Drive Thru Wedding. I really don't care...I get the same end result, I get to marry the love of my life! I'll still get to have my dress and him in a tux. Then he wants to have a little get together at our house in Wisconsin. I don't know anyone but his family so it really doesn't matter to me. I will get a wedding cake though. I know... usually the woman is going crazy planning a wedding, not me. Doesn't interest me in the least. Now, planning the interior decorating of the new house... I'm all over that! LOL

Every special moment we have ever had, has been at the Jersey shore. We agreed that we both want a beach wedding, so we will get married there...just the two of us...save the family thing for a little reception afterwards at the end of the summer. I love the fact that I can wear a white summer dress with a white bikini underneath LOL! We call it 'our spot', where we had our first date, got engaged and then married. I never thought almost 2 years ago at that spot, that I'd be marrying the man of my dreams! Life is so weird! :)

So in the interview letter, they did not specify what to bring at the interview except for pictures, visa, express post envelope, DS-156, DS-160, 131$ US in cash and such. So my question is ... What documents do I need to bring at the interview and which ones need to be notarized ????

Nothing needs to be notarized per se. If you use the new I-134 form from the USCIS website, it does not require notarization. The long-form birth certificate needs to be a certified copy with photocopy duplicates... but they give that back to you anyway and you automatically get a certified copy from the province if you order one (costs about $40). Honestly I don't know why people go to such great troubles to get things notarized (must be due to the rigorous VJ instructions). I didn't have a single thing notarized when I went to the interview.

To figure out what you need to bring, read over the packet 3 checklist and the interview appointment letter. The checklist pretty much covers 90% of the stuff. Just make sure everything listed in the checklist is photocopied twice.

The appointment letter mentions the DS-160 and the DS-156. Both need to be completed (though the DS-160 should have been done at the time you sent back packet 3). FYI they took one copy of my DS-160 (confirmation page and answers), and 2 copies of my DS-156. The appointment letter also says to bring the $131 USD cash or Canadian equivalent (you can pay in Canadian at the cashier if you have enough money... they do an daily exchange rate). Simpler to get the US money in my opinion. Oh, and the updated Fiance(e) letter of intent.

The only other thing that isn't really noted -- make sure you bring the DS-156k that came in your packet 3 because it's signed in front of the interviewing officer, and make a photocopy of your biographic page of the passport because they'll ask you for it.

ps-it helps to read consulate reviews within this thread to get an idea of what to bring.

Thanks a lot bauser for your advices, this is greatly appreciated :) oh and you too Wis-Can

I will go through all the documents again and make sure everything is set ... no, wait ... hell I'll bring them all just to be on the safe side

Guess the stress is just getting to me .. I sort of feel like bounce.gif lol

awww me too! That's so sweet!! I'm guessing that's where you're little display pic thingy was taken?

Wow Julybride, 300 people on the guest list?! That's wild! ahaha. You must post some pictures afterwords! This is something we will want to see. I wish my mom was more into the wedding plans... I think it depresses her a little because she knows the wedding means I'm gone, far far away. My future mother in law and grandmother in law have been very helpful though! Planning a wedding from 2,500 km away isn't an easy task.

I will post pics later in the summer. :) My mom got used to the idea of me being 1600 miles awaywhen I moved to MI from AZ in January 2001. Now, I'm planning wedding here where I live, but trying to appease her from 1600 miles away is another task. But, I'm realizing that this is OUR day and what I like, fortunately, is what my fiance' likes/wants, too. THANK GOODNESS!

You guys are brave having the wedding so soon after you cross!

We're waiting to have our traditional white wedding in Sept 2010. We're also having a big wedding with around 175 people. I have a huge family and its amazing how fast the list grows!

The thing I love about weddings is that it really is so representative of a couple and who they are. No wedding could ever be the same. Each one is so uniquely beautiful.

I love weddings!

I'm curious to know how people answered DS 156 question 29- They again ask you to list your previous trips to the USA. Did you put all the trips you listed in the DS 230 or just put the last 5 or just say "plus additional trips from 20XX-2009"?

I just listed my most recent, and then put 'see schedule A' which I attach a trip log of all of our visits since we met... I know, i've been logging them all... every 2-3 weeks that we cross, I log who what and where... I am also submitting that 'visit log' as proof...they have scanned our passports numerous times, so if they want, they technically could verify it...

I did this for both the 156 and 230.

I saw someone ask the other day about 230 part 1 and II? which one did we send back with P3? and what does part II look like? is it required?

I just listed the same ones as what was on that other form that asked for the last 5 or 6 trips or whatever. I have been there twice a month for a couple of years but only listed trips as far back as about November. The interviewer commented that it seems like I am there every weekend. I corrected her and said every other weekend. That was the extent of what was spent on that issue.

DEF!!!!! I would have no shame in my game and call every 2-3 days! Who cares, that's what their phone centre is for, to yeild calls?!

You would def be in their next batch so you should find out about your interview date in the next couple weeks...

Good luck!!!!!! And start stalking! Haahaa :)

Ps. It may not speed up the process, but it made me feel better! LOL!
