K-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal

Try to look on the bright side -- this is the last step of the visa process and there is more waiting behind you than ahead of you.

Also, by the time you go to Montreal it will be warm again so the wait outside will be a lot nicer.

Just FYI: The average time between sending back Packet 3 and receiving an interview date with the last batch of interviewees was ~2.5 months.

I kinda expect a 3-4 month turn around... I was hoping for 3 months... that would put me at an interview date for the end of May, and in the US for June... I just really didn't want to spend June here :(

I have a question...are we allowed to visit US for a few weeks (last weeks before my interview date), drive back over for interview, and then return back over with my Visa? I would have liked to spend June in the US.... and if it's only 2-4 weeks... just a thought...

I'm in the same boat... I didn't want him to spend June there - I want him to spend June here!!! :crying:

Guess I'll keep waiting. . . and worrying. Fortunately, I'm limiting myself, and I am actually sticking to this (believe it or not) to one call a week... and I have to wait at least 8 days (trying for 10) before I make the next call.

<sigh>

Sure, I can't see why not! It would just be like your regular visits. That sounds like a great idea!

^^ I visited after the NOA2 and it was fine. They didn't even ask me anything - not even where I was going or who I was visiting. He just said "Have a nice trip" and sent me along! You just never know with them!

I got my visa today. It's so strange to actually have it in my passport ready to go. I honestly feel like the process went really fast in hindsight! Now let's hope June 20th comes just as fast!

That is SOOOO wonderful to hear, SapphireDreams! I'm glad you've got your Visa in hand and can sit back for a bit. :) Now, I'm just hoping the rest of us have an easy go of it like you did, once you had your interview date. Thanks for all of your kind words and keeping the rest of us motivated! :star:

I'm hoping with the selling of my properties, and finished off things that I have to get done before I leave list the time will go by quickly. I've given up on a April date, so May is ok if it has to be! Give me more time to spend with family & friends. And, more time to save $$ for the week long stay in Montreal....I am doing my medical 3-4 days ahead of interview hopefully. I don't want to make 2-14 hr one way drives. Better get ready for work...have a great day guys!

Hi all...

Just finished my medical this morning at Seiden. Thanks again for all the information in the posts. It was very helpful. Knowledge is power and having it in these situations makes the process so much easier.

Some thots and reminders.

1. I was there at 6:15am and was 4th in line. i would have been 2nd or 3rd but the Starbucks across the street was just too tempting having already driven 1.5 hours. The latte and poppyseed loaf hot the spot... and the clean bathroom.

The door was opened to Seidens office shortly after 6:35 and the receptionist let the 4 of us in.

Have your letter in hand. Very frustrating for those behind if you are not prepared.

2. Within 10 minutes I was called by intake secretary ( see #3) Then quickly to x-ray. Walked out of x-ray and receptionist was waiting for me and took me right into exam room. Everyone after me went back to waiting room. So, being one of the first 4 means you get one of the first waiting rooms it appears. So be within 1st four if you can possibly help it.

3. Have right bills for intake secretary who you see first. She told me how frustrating it is when people don't have the correct bills. I actually had two separate envelopes. One with $50 for Fedex and the other with the $275.

4. She also mentioned how many people don't listen to her on the phone. Having a simple way to give here everything she requested makes the process very easy. Passport - check, pictures - check, proof of immunizations - check, cash for medical - check, cash for fedex - check, address for Fedex - check!!

This all makes a happy intake secretary.

5. In the exam room I was weighed and measured by receptionist who let us in the office. I was told to wait to get my blood pressure done. 10 minutes later, a doctor came in and took it. He then asked me to get on the gown... and wait. I re-weighed myself with gown. A much better number. 4 pounds lighter than with shoes and clothes on. I also noticed how "drop dead sexy" I looked in my gown. :D

6. 15 minutes later, next doctor arrived. Ran through immunizations, medical history in 2 minutes. Then onto the table for quick once over... done in 5 minutes. Be sure to have all proof. Nothing to report for this.

7. Then I waited less than 5 minutes for bloodwork. Into the chair... blood extracted.

8. Handed my little slip back to receptionist and then out the door. Time - 8:12am.

Easy and painless. But as I left I noticed the waiting room was packed and people were standing. You have to be there early to get out early.

Now, I too am waiting for my interview date in Montreal.

Hope that helps.

Be kind, be patient and find joy this day.

Cheers

tom

As long as you have a return ticket, ties/proof to Canada and you don't move your stuff... you guys should just visit. I mean if you're just sitting around in Canada, I can't see why not.

Well I'm working but I wish I would just be sitting around and decide to go to the US :)

Then definitely don't quit before you actually get your visa so you can collect employment insurance :)

I so want to quit and just go wait in the US but I can't, I'm on a work visa here in Canada and I had to send a copy to Montreal to justify my legal status here.

If I quit working, I'll be on the tourist status and that is not what I proved to the embassy...

Called DOS just now and nothing. We have a plan to give them a call every Wednesday until we hear something... everyday seems a little excessive, once a week may be too but I can't be THAT patient.

I graduate June 11th, so I'll be perfectly content with a June interview as long as its not on the 10th or 11th! If it is, I'll deal, I get the diploma whether I'm there to pick it up or not! In the perfect world I'd be in the US on the 13th but I'm not holding my breath... although I remain cautiously optimistic. We have a wedding planned for August 6th, so i'd rather not push it with a July date, but Its not like I'm in control of the situation *sigh*

I don't know if I'll be booked in with the next batch of interviews or not. It seems like everyone still waiting from January sent their packets back on the 20th or after. I sent mine back on February 18th and I know they got it on the 20th... Do they schedule them in month blocks? Not sure if anyone can answer that, it doesn't seem like there is much of a concrete order in the way they do things...
