I've already completed the newest version of the I-134. Do I need to submit an old one that's notarized or is the new version that doesn't require notarization okay? The DS-156K is also expired. Can he just use the most current version?

You can use the new I-134 that does not require notarization. I've confirmed this with Montreal.

I am going to use the expired DS-156K. Bear in mind that this particular form must be signed in front of someone at the time of your interview.

Thanks!

Ours was sent to Montreal on March 9 and Chris received packet 3 yesterday, so yours should be there any day now! You can download Packet 3 here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada The documents are all from Vancouver, but as far as I know it's all the same stuff. So your fiancé can find everything required and have everything prepared when Packet 3 arrives. Maybe you won't be running around like a chicken with your head cut off when it arrives (like me and my fiancé are right now)!

They seriously told you that? I e-mailed Montreal a couple weeks ago and I was told that I am to use the OLD I-134 that needs to be notarized...

It's rather annoying they would tell different people different things. I'll show you exactly what was said in the e-mail:

Me: "I just have a question about the form 1-134. I understand that the new version of the form does not need to be notarized. Can my fiance fill out the new version downloaded from the USCIS website, or does he need to use the old, notarized version included in the packet 3?"

Reply: "Please use the notarized version included in the package."

So I'm not really sure... Maybe e-mail them yourself and see what they say?

Congratulations Rob and Mel!

We are still waiting for our interview date. We call on Monday and they said we were in the waiting list. Keep faith everyone, it will speed up soon.

I have a question and hope this is the right place but I believe some of you might be able. Once I received the K1 visa I will be flying from Ottawa to Chicago or Washington and then to San Francisco. Is anyone know the POE, the transport companies ask for it. Will I need to activate my K1 Visa in Ottawa when I go through custom here before boarding or when I will be landing in US (Chicago or Washington)?

I look at all port of entry but I am so lost. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I sent the following message to Montreal on Feb 20, 2009:

Can you confirm whether my sponsor can use the I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (Edition Date 10/30/2008) on the USCIS website? This is the new edition that does not require notarization.

I found the form here:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00048f3d6a1RCRD

and they responded:

It is ok, no problem.

Thank you

Hey there :)

You will activate your Visa in Ottawa, as far as I know they have preclearance. You should do customs there, activate your K-1 and then you will just have your regular wait and flight out of Washington or Chicago. Most large Canadian international airports have preclearance, and I just looked at the website and they do have it :)

Hope that helps :)

The train ride from Toronto to Montreal was flawless... even arrived 15 minutes early.

This hotel is swank too. It is bigger than any apartment I've ever had in Toronto. Free high-speed internet, kitchenette, living room, 2 HDTVs, and a king size bed. If anyone is just staying for one night like me, you can't really go wrong with Le Square Phillips. Complimentary breakfast at 630am and then walk over to the consulate (which is around the corner). Oh, and the hotel is only a 5 min walk from the train station. Everything is going swell so far! Tomorrow... interview and then smoked meat sammiches.

We were approved today!! We were there at the door at around 6:50 and finished at around 10:00 a.m. - being organized and knowing what documents we needed and having copies of everything was really helpful.

I seriously couldn't believe how many people didn't bring an Xpresspost envelope.

Anyways, I'm so glad it's over with!! It really was so anti-climatic.
