My sister and I were talking yesterday about how I should just have my religious ceremony even if I don't have the "paperwork" for the wedding. Then get married legally by the justice of the peace when the visa does come through. I had to laugh at her logic. Um, I don't want to get our adjustment of status messed up because of our "wedding pictures" being before any legal wedding.

I just saw another Montreal interview waiter that got his Packet 3 in 16 days from the consulate receiving their petition from the NVC. Yeah! I am more hopeful that if the wait is closer to 4 months, then my fiance' will get his interview sometime in June before our hopeful date of July 11, 2010. I am going to call NVC tomorrow to see if my petition has been sent to Montreal. They said they had it yesterday, but it was finished being processed/entered into their computers.

The packet 3 isn't a long wait....its the packet 4 (interview letter). The packet 3 is sent out quickly and then you have to send that back in and wait for it to be logged and then you get put on the wait for an interview list. When they did a bunch of them in October some did get lucky and didn't have to wait long because they scheduled so many at once. Some had sent their packet 3 back in late June/early July and people who sent theirs in the first week of October all got booked for November and December interviews.

Three months to receive packet 4 (interview letter) that will tell use we have, what a couple of weeks to a month to an interview?

The letter you receive in Packet 3 will tell you that an interview will be scheduled in approximately 4-6 months after they receive your packet 3 back. People have been waiting about 4 months. If you call DOS you'll probably find out when your interview is before you get the packet 4 letter in the mail. People get anywhere between 2-5 weeks notice that they have an interview date.

I saw that the medical exam is "recommended" to be completed a week before the interview. Are the panel physicians able to make appointments for medical exams that quickly (i.e. within a couple days of receiving the packet 4 interview letter)?

I wouldn't wait until the last minute myself. They reason they don't want you to get it too early is because if its been more then 1 year since the medical and you go to apply for AOS you will have to do it again. So if you got your medical and then your interview was in 5 months, didn't move until 5 months after that and then got married 2 months later...there's your year and you're outa luck. You'd have to pay to have another medical all over again in the US.

Another reason why some have their medicals right before their interviews is because of the travel expenses. If you live out east then people usually plan on a weeks stay in Montreal to do both the medical and interview rather then have to travel there twice. If you live close to TO, Montreal or Vancouver then there isn't much reason to wait. Also Vancouver seems to do things differently where they can have their medicals in the morning and interview in the afternoon. That isn't an option in Montreal.

Wait, do you mean people get their notification by mail 2-5 weeks in advance, or by calling DOS? How much earlier does it actually get scheduled?

Really? Well thats sucky news. Hopefully they get that fixed in the next couple weeks before we all go nuts (even more so) wondering if we have interview dates.

So a bunch more CR1 visas were scheduled today for March. Congrats to them! Hopefully this means it won't be too much longer before we'll see some K1 scheduling! *fingers crossed*

I dialed the NVC 53 times and finally got through to find out my petition was forwarded to Montreal on Jan. 19. There was a DHL package for Montreal on Jan. 20 (there was none with a reference of Jan. 19) and it arrived at 4:20 p.m. today. I can't wait for my fiance' to get his packet 3 and be able to return his paperwork to be put in line for an interview. Yeah! One step closer. Now the petition is at least IN CANADA! It was quite the excitement on the CR1 thread. All of a sudden people were getting emails with interview dates. Hopefully some K-1s will be getting a flood of interview dates too.

Have all the CR-1's that are on VJ been given interview dates? I know it was a lot but I figured there are always more! We all want to be with our loved ones, and you husbands/wives even more so, I am sure! I want my fiance' to be able to come to the U.S. so he can become my husband. The less waiting, the better, in my opinion.

Maybe not ALL, per se, but people up to some time in December were scheduled...so effectively it's "all" of us. :)
