I am praying Montreal will be able to get more of us waiting for an interview at least scheduled. Having a date gives some sort of hope and a goal. Hopefully more of you will hear something soon. Tomorrow I am going to call the NVC to see if my package for my fiance' has gotten mailed to the Montreal consulate. Then I will be in the "waiting to be logged" boat :) One step closer!!!!

hello everyone!

so i have been patiently awaiting for an interview date as well and today i got an email letter from US VISA? here is what it said and it is from Washington:

This is in response to your email to the U.S. Consulate in Montreal, Canada concerning your nonimmigrant fiancée visa application. Your email was forwarded to the Visa Office, Public Inquiries Division in Washington, DC for our response.

The U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is facing a backlog of immigrant visa cases which affects their ability to schedule immigrant visa cases. This backlog was caused by an unforeseen and unpreventable staffing shortage. The Consulate is making every effort to reduce the backlog.

The Consulate will be unable to complete your case until all the documents you were asked to collect have been submitted to them and reviewed by them. Please send all requested documents in one mailing to the Consulate. Do not request an appointment unless you have all your documents collected. Scheduling an appointment before you are fully prepared will only delay completion of your case.

For future inquiries you may contact our office directly and a Visa Specialist will be happy to assist you. You may reach us at 202-663-1225 Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.

Any information in this transmission pertaining to the issuance or refusal of visas or permits to enter the United States shall be considered confidential under Section 222(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) [8 U.S.C. Section 1202]. Access to and use of such information must be solely for the formulation, amendment, administration, or enforcement of the immigration, nationality, and other laws of the United States under INA 222(f) and as specified in FAM guidance. If you have received such information in error, do not review, retransmit, disclose, disseminate, use, or take any action in reliance upon this information, and contact the sender as soon as possible.

We trust this information is helpful.

Has anyone else gotten this! I'm going to call the number because I don't want to send my originals and I haven't even scheduled a medical yet because I was waiting until the interview date. I'm so mad because I figure this is going to delay my case and I'm getting married June 12 :( Thought you all might be interested in what I got.

What did you ask them? Because to me that just seems like an automated response/reply covering all grounds as to what could cause a delay and how to reach them....

i told them i had sent my packet 3 on december 14 and it was still not logged, however I called yesterday and it was. I have a feeling it's because I also asked them in my email as to what happens if I do not have the criminal record check in time for my interview if that will delay the process. ughh!! i'm sure that's why they sent it, now that I think of it. just great!

Sounds like they didn't log your packet yet. They're probably upset that you are contacting them so early as well. It's only been a month since you sent you packet 3 back.

My packet 3 bodly indicated that interviews take 4 -6 months right now in Montreal. I think you have to wait that long before they'll do anything to advance your case. My interview took 5 months minus a day from the time my packet 3 was sent.

12/31/2009 - Marriage

08/04/2010 - Green Card received (and it's actually green!)

05/30/2012 - Sent ROC packet to VSC

My packet 3 was logged last Friday. They are probably mad because I have been emailing them everyday telling them my situation. Oh well, just gonna think positive about this!

Don't be frustrated, although its hard to be patient sometimes.

Montreal was back-logged last year, but I managed to get my interview 2 months after I sent pkt 3.

I dunno if it was luck, but there is hope for anyone else waiting.

8/4/2021: N-400 received

8/6/2021:  Biometrics to be reused
3/15/2022:  Interview (successful)

Stef - I don't think you'll miss your June 12 wedding date. That's still 6 months away, and I haven't seen anyone take that long! Even if you're booked in March or April, you'll still have time to work out th criminal record stuff if need be.

Hang in there!

Thank you so much! The only thing I am worried about is that I need to send in my documents before they even schedule an interview for me. So I feel like this will delay the process since I will have to wait for an interview date after they receive the documents. And it's only 5 months :( 5 months yesterday! lol. I have a little countdown going!

Steflovesbran - if your packet was logged, I believe that means they have all the proper paperwork and you're just waiting on an interview. I might be wrong, but I'd call DOS at the number in your letter and ask them "do I need to send anything else prior to my interview being scheduled." I suspect they will say no, your packet has been logged, and that your letter was mailed before Montreal knew that you had forwarded the necessary Packet 3 paperwork. Which would mean you should still be ok on a June wedding.

All - I called today on a whim - I'd already called on Monday, but something in my brain was saying to call today. I got a very helpful DOS agent on the phone who said she remembered talking to me in the past. She said again that we were ready for an interview, but no date had been assigned. She asked if I "knew the problems that Montreal was having." I told her I understood there was a substantial backlog due to staffing issues, and she said I was well informed. I asked if she knew if it was true that Montreal had hired new people. She confirmed that Montreal had been building up their staff. She said they do not know how long the backlog will take to catch up, and that she had no way of knowing whether they are done scheduling for February interviews. She encouraged me to call back once or twice a week until I got an interview. I know it only tracks what others have posted, but thought it was one more confirmation of what we know.

Thanks jmd77 for the information. Once again it gives hope that there could be an avalanche of interviews once they get people properly trained and in place. Or at least there will be a few more interviews than seem to be scheduled so far for all the people waiting.
