Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that montreal doesn't slow the trend of giving interviews. Seems like they were trying to catch up, I know we're all hoping it doesn't go back to the 3 month + wait times! I brought my packet 3 to the post office on nov 8 ( I know it's a sunday but i couldn't go the next day) and holy cow did Canada post ever give me a heart attack. It was supposed to be a 2 day delivery and then of course nov 11th was a holiday but i kept tracking my packet and it still wasn't there by FRIDAY! kept calling canada post and finally friday evening when I checked online for the 100th time they had updated it to say it had been delivered the previous day! Oh well I'm just glad it got there.

Who else calls DOS every possible chance, I actually had to limit myslef to calling once a week. Today when I called there was still no interview although she did confirm that all the paperwork was accepted and I'm just waiting for a date. I am also waiting to schedule my medical until after the 14th. I was really hoping i would get an interview soon because my fiance is visint for 3 weeks over the holiday. Having him at the interview would mean not having to bring too much proof of the relationship. Although knowing him he'd try and be funny and say he'd never met me before and i'd offered him money to stand there and look pretty or something like that...

Anyway here's hoping we all get interviews soon! I'll post as soon as i get the news.

Hi Laura,

Welcome to VJ!

The Montreal wait seems to be a long one. I don't think you'll get your interview over the holidays, and it seems they have finished scheduling until the end of January.

The wait is the hardest part! I don't suggest calling DOS every day, it's just so disappointing every time they say you don't have a date! Once/week is good.

I was hoping for the interview to be when he's here but I didn't really think it would happen. Finished scheduling until the end of January? Do you mean they close for the holidays until then? How did you come to that time frame? Sorry about the flurry of questions but it sounds like you know what your talking about.

I really wish the whole scheduling process was more transparent. Is it just montreal or do most consulates have these random delays. we have been really lucky so far in how quickly our visa has been processed but I guess it had to catch up with us sometime.

This website has really been so helpful and has really helped me with everything from filling out forms to comparing our timeline. I would ahve been so lost without it. Thanks to everyone for posting.

They tend to do scheduling in batches. The December batch was scheduled in November. I believe there was already a small January batch.

Hopefully we see a few more people with nearing appointments, but they don't seem to schedule the odd person inbetween, unfortunately.

Laura

The consulate isn't closed, but they have scheduled some CR1s (another type of family visa) for January, which leads me to believe we won't see any K1s getting their interviews until at least then if not February.

I waited quite a while for my interview (4 months almost to the day). I understand what you are about to go through.

Well I am sure that's not something me or Laura wanted to hear (lol) but looking at the way Montreal is picking up speed, I am sure something we can hope for the best.

lol I think we've all been there. I'm honestly crossing my fingers for you that it doesn't take that long, but for me I put mine in in July and got mine scheduled in October for the end of November. Its just such a huge disparity between the timelines, some have gotten it in 6 weeks others have had to wait 5 months, and I think that Peachy, Sapphire and I all hope you try to go into it with a different mindset than we did. I know I was hoping for 2-3 months, and was so confident that I would get it that when it didnt happen in time for my plans I was crushed. I cried for almost a week. It was pretty horrible, I got really moody and poor Wes didn't know how to help me. You would have thought I would have learned from the NOA2 lol...the people the month ahead of me got theirs within 30-60 days. I've totally learned now that just because people at the same time or just slightly before me had one thing happen doesnt mean at all it will work the same way for me. I'm so prepared to spend up to 5 months without working now, even though quite a few people got theirs within 60 days. I'm so tired of being burnt lol.

Again though, I'm definately hoping for the best for you! Wouldn't it be awesome if you're not expecting to get one till Feb or March and end up with one for the end of Jan?

Well Monteal got my app from nvc on Monday, so i'm guessing my packet 3 will be in a couple weeks..then i'm figureing my interview will only be earliest March. 1 year compared to the 3 months i was originally told..lol.

And steph, i would not worry about being moody. David got to see sides of me i did not even know existed during this whole process. And then just when you think your almsot at the finish line you find out your still screwed over by delays at Montreal as opposed to Vancouver.

Ah well..c'est la vie eh?

OR

You call DOS and they say you have an interview date, but can't see when and are told to call back the next week to find out. Then, when you call, you find out there's actually no interview scheduled for you.

sorry, i'm still bitter about that. I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Laura, is your fiancee on active duty? You can get an expedited interview if he is.

Do they have to be active duty or have orders to be deployed? I know we inquired about getting an expedite at the beginning of the process since my fiance is active duty, but we were told that it was only if you had orders to be deployed, so I am not sure if the rules are different for the interview part. If it is only needing to be active duty, then I would like to look into that.

I've read that they have to be on alert for deployment, not necessarily with orders. Bern can clarify as she is expediting her interview.
