so, the other day i emailed the senator of Michigan, giving my fiance's address of course and he just got a release form in the mail asking signed permission for the senators office to look into our case.

i think we'll wait 1 more month before sending it out because that will put us to almost 4 months and thats when montreal tells you to harass them.

so anyone in michigan who has been waiting for 4 months your senator will look into your case.

Sounds like promising news.....I'll keep that in mind.

Thank you.

Man, I hear you guys. I know I'm a CR1 and I'm not sure if our waiting time are the same? Like I don't know if K1s wait longer from receipt of package 3 than we do from completion at NVC? Can anyone enlighten me?

But I hear you -- I am ITCHING to get out of here. I love my Canada but with how they're making us wait sucks AND that paired with Air canada charging 900$ for a one hour flight at xmas? What? I checked the flights from Buffalo to Washington DC and you know what? At christmas time they charge 150$ all in return!

Canada's giving us a hard time with all this.

I hear you guys -- it sucks badly.

It is for this reason that my fiance and I never fly out of Canada anymore when we go visit each other. I live about 2 hours from the border, and it's STILL cheaper to fly out of Detroit, and take a 2.5 hour shuttle bus ride to the airport , than it is to just fly right out of London, ON. It's well worth the added travel time, even with the cost of the bus added.

Yep, Ashen...

Hear you on that -- you should see my Travel thread here... it's all about bus to buffalo, flights from Buffalo.

I cannot tell you how happy I will be when husband and I are bouncing around travel plans/ideas in person rather than trying to figure out how to get me there or him here without having to break the bank and such.

What a friggin relief that'll be....

All our travel plans (for 'home' visits to Canada I mean) will still break the bank. :( But at least we will break it together.

Yep, it's horrible. I was talking about Southwest Airlines -- they only fly inter USA -- but holy moly do they EVER have awesome prices. Don't know if I said this here or what, I"m sure I have... but the Air Canada flight to my home in the US is 900$ this xmas? They are insane.

But... it is what it is, right?

:) Yay London! If you ever need to bus it again, check out Aboutown too. They're pretty awesome. Robert Q's main competition, and their fares are 'slightly' better, and the schedule is a little better as well. Though it's really a flip of the coin between the two.

I wish it was that easy to get to Montreal, without it taking a whole day. I'm going to go insane on a bus/train/car ride that long. lol

Yeah, I ended up reading the thread after you mentioned it :) I installed the Ding thing (lol), but unfortunately Southwest doesn't fly to Santa Barbara, so there would be a connecting flight (which there ALWAYS is anyway), and a change of airlines (always sketchy). we're talking people who submitted in July or August who haven't got interviews yet and may be looking at September. I'm one of them. I just want to get the freak down there, I'm setting a tentative ceremony date for late May and have a courthouse document signing ASAP when I get across.

Missa, do you mean that you'll wait one more month so that your wait time for an interview ends up being 3 months (presuming another month between when you hear about your interview date and the actual date)? I guess I'm just about there...

what i meant was i want to wait closer to the 4 month date that Montreal says you have to wait before you can start to ###### at them. they got my P3 back aug 18th about. i don't want the senator to look into it and be like ooh , you've only been waiting 3 months ? montreal says 4 so suck it up. i don't want to inquire too early.

( if that even makes sense)

i'll wait a month after i get my date, i just want to know when it is so i can prepare and make arrangements with work/school/ apartment/ moving expenses/omgjustgivemeadamndateplease

Oh Ashen...

my worst nightmare is what you just described. Geezus... I just did the DING thing too... They don't fly to Santa Barbara? That sucks. connecting flights are horrible -- the stress is crazy. Dont' get ranty, I hear you...

We'll get ranty AFTER xmas when I write to say that I got stuck in buffalo, had my luggage stolen and had to sleep at the bus station due to a whiteout, had nothing to eat but a processed cheese sandwich on white bread and half a bag of fritos and a Tab.

We can rant together.

I live in Woodstock and take the Robert Q to Detriot and fly to LA.

It's way way cheaper.

Gotta love the Robert Q <3

lol ok that would be good (I mean... to rant 'together'... not for that to happen to you.. I don't wish it on ANYBODY.). The worst part of it all was dealing with it alone I think, and not having a cell phone that worked in the states. That was teh suxor (did I do that right? :P ).

Anyways.. Missa, that's a good point. I'm going to wait until I fire off a letter too. Hopefully neither of us actually has to wait that long to find out our dates. :(

Talk about break the bank... you should see how I broke the bank in 4 years of traveling back and forth. Heh...

I normally flew Northwest out of Buffalo, connecting in Detroit, Chicago or Minneapolis. It was usually the cheapest and best option when flying out to the west. I actually don't mind connecting on longer flights, it gives you the opportunity to get out, stretch and get something to eat (unless you're running late then that's a little pain in the butt). There were also a few airports I preferred to avoid flying with other airlines. Airports that have no organization, crappy amenities, are dirty and look like they were built in 1920's are the worst. Or ones that aren't connected... argh. (rant end )
