Speaking of online forms... do we use our new case # given through NVC in the DS-160 or the case # that's on the NOA2?

Yeah... I imagine its a bit different with it before it even get to MTL. They have to log the package as received (which can take up to a week or so) before they will send out your P3. DOS also can't really do anything with our files. They are fine when you are calling to check up on interviews, but most people suggest not to start calling until about a week after you have sent your P3 to them, as they can't really tell if your package is being logged with MTL or anything until they do it. Its best for enquiries to email MTL and call DOS for updates. What i did was after about 2 weeks from when NVC sent it (i think about 4 days after DHL said delivered) i emailed MTL saying that NVC had told me that the package had been sent the beginning of the week before and asked if it had been received and when I might get the P3..which is when they told me what date it had been sent (which is how I knew that they lost it in the mail..had to email to get a new packet sent, only took 3 days to get this time!). Then after i sent it (about a week) I emailed to confirm delivery, they had not logged it yet. The next week I called DOS to see if it had been logged. Basically any time I want something or need a question answered other than "is it there yet" and "do i have an interview yet" I emailed MTL.

Oh and you can do the DS160 online any time you want.

Thanks for the info, Danu. It's good to know that I can have packet 3 materials all ready to be sent out the same day I get the packet 3.

I'm guessing it's the NVC number, no?

Hey everyone,

For the DS160, what are we supposed to put for the intended arrival date? I would go there permanently. Also, for the application number, it is the NVC case number, right? Thanks!

Tina

Actually, it asks for petition number so that would mean the USCIS number......so confusing. Oh well, I'm going with USCIS number.

Actually the NVC number should be the correct number, I think.

My problem right now is that I submitted my application and I think I filled out the wrong nationality. Do we just e-mail Montreal if that's the case? Thanks!

as far as I know you can just refill out the form with the right info and bring in the confirmation page and application page from the one that is correct. I believe someone else had an issue when they were filling theirs out and that thats what they were told to do, just refill and bring the right one.

sent in p3 checklist end of july.. still waiting for interview.

what's the news from people calling montreal? how can i call montreal? i think my mail delivery person is on vacation, i haven't even received junkmail in the last 2 weekdays!

this is excruciatingly long wait at this point.

i mightve put the MTL case number not the NVC case number. could this be the holdup??

gack.

and.. reading around the montreal specific stuff, i might end up finding out last minute when my interview is.

and.. it's SUNDAY :(

You can't call montreal...

don't worry... the case number is starting by montreal... at this point you don't have nothing to worry about NVC

when you call the DOS the only thing they can tell you is if your case is log on ...or of course if montreal has appointed you an interview they will see it...

montreal might not call you for your interview but peachey and others from july haven't got news eitheir...

just call this number 1-202-663-1225 press 1 then 0

and give them the case number ... should be MTL2009XXXXX something

And good luck

good, case number is fine.

i will try calling starting this week. you're right, i'm right in there with others from P3 in july that haven't got interview yet.. but it seems any time now. I've made provisions to move in november (eg list my apartment to replace me on lease), but with a backup plan (stay with parents! get J to take cats to boston >^..^<)

i'll keep the forum posted on my status.

Thanks, Danu. So I guess my nationality should be Canadian? I guess it is since it does say it on my passport. I guess I'll refill and bring the right one. I've e-mailed Montreal also just to see what they say.

Regarding the receipt number, yeah, it's very confusing. At first when they said "petition", I thought of the USCIS number. But Montreal gets the NVC number, so I'm not even sure if they know the USCIS number.

This is so confusing!!

I'll probably have to ask that as well.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Tina

Does anyone have any advice for the picture portion of the DS-160?

I scanned in one of my US passport photos and it's 2 x 2 inches and wont accept it.

Do we HAVE to attach it or can we give it at the interview?

As far as I know, you have to attach it. Does it say why it's not accepting it? Maybe your file is too big?

It says:

"Head size relative to the rest of the image or head position may be incorrect"

But uh, that's how it is in the actual picture.

I really hate using my scanner, it's such a pain.
