We now have our NVC case number. Can I use that to book a medical? Is it still too early? Thanks!

You can...but you still need the paper from them to show at the medical. Also one thing to keep in mind is the closer you have it to the interview, the longer it will be valid for your AOS. Some people had their validity come close so the got RFE'd for a new medical.

As soon as you get your MTL or VAN number (from the packet) make a copy (or 2) of the entire thing! That way, you can send back the checklist (original) and have a copy to show the medical exam office. But, as Danu said, wait as long as you can, without waiting too long. Your medical exam will be good for 1 calendar year.

Just a suggestion, you people waiting for interviews right now should do what we did a few months ago. Do a daily call rotation that way you can get daily updates from other people and you only have to call once a week on a sepcific day. MTL has been known to batch and assign interviews all at one time. Thats what happened with us July interview people...there were 4 of us on the same day :)

re: the daily Department of State call-doing this is very much worth the while. I found out my interview date a week before I actually received the letter. They run on a database, so whatever info is inputted into the database via MTL is immediately accessible to the DoS staff a.k.a. the people you speak to when you call...

I usually call every Thursday or Friday, though it looks like most batches are getting done on tuesday's at the moment. And thanks Minnew, I'm sure everyone else is being driven just as crazy as I am.

Danu, if you want to do a "call rotation" since we're so close together, I can call on Tuesday, and you can call on Thursdays? Would that work for you?

Hey everyone!

So I'm currently waiting for Packet 3. Apparently my package has already arrived at Montreal. NVC sent it on the 16th. I've booked my medical for October 21. If my packet 3 does not get lost in the mail, I think I'm all set.

In terms of the stuff I need to send back, I have all the forms filled out:

DS 156

DS 156K

DS 230 part 1&2

I'm just not sure whether I will be able to do DS 160 before my packet 3 arrives. It's pretty much the same as DS 156, except it's online, right?

Also, I also got my vaccination records and it looks like I don't need further shots. I am so afraid of needles..ugh!

On another note, I didn't find the staff at DoS to be too friendly. Maybe because I've been calling them too soon to check if they have received my file? From DHL, I know it reached the consulate yesterday. Someone named MAMEDOV signed for it, but I suppose them it takes them a couple of days just to process it? The lady said it could take a week??

I guess I'm just a bit anxious right now. I want things to go smoothly...

Yeah... I imagine its a bit different with it before it even get to MTL. They have to log the package as received (which can take up to a week or so) before they will send out your P3. DOS also can't really do anything with our files. They are fine when you are calling to check up on interviews, but most people suggest not to start calling until about a week after you have sent your P3 to them, as they can't really tell if your package is being logged with MTL or anything until they do it. Its best for enquiries to email MTL and call DOS for updates. What i did was after about 2 weeks from when NVC sent it (i think about 4 days after DHL said delivered) i emailed MTL saying that NVC had told me that the package had been sent the beginning of the week before and asked if it had been received and when I might get the P3..which is when they told me what date it had been sent (which is how I knew that they lost it in the mail..had to email to get a new packet sent, only took 3 days to get this time!). Then after i sent it (about a week) I emailed to confirm delivery, they had not logged it yet. The next week I called DOS to see if it had been logged. Basically any time I want something or need a question answered other than "is it there yet" and "do i have an interview yet" I emailed MTL.

Oh and you can do the DS160 online any time you want.
