i just did my packet 3 last nyt. the DS230 part 1 is the paper form that u need to send back to them together with the checklist. the DS 156 is the one u do electronically. the DS 156k is the other form that ure supposed to bring in the interview. i just dont understand what do they mean when they say two copies for the 156. i just printed two copies of the confirmation with the barcode. did i do it right?

how long did u guys waited after sending the packet 3 to get an interview schedule?

thanks

It was the DS-230 that was done online and a printed barcode. THe 156K was the one they told you to bring to the interview with you *they didnt ask for mine though, because of the 160*

The DS-160 isn't too hard to fill out. But since you have about a month left to wait, why not email the consulate and ask if they will want it? That way you can be sure. The picture you have to scan in can be a pain in the ####, so if you don't have to do it, it would save the frustration, but I would for sure email them and check :)

I thought the 230 got sent back?..lol, I'm confused now. But yeah, e-mailing sounds like a good idea =)

hello all....i'm filling DS 160 form, and there's this "present work" part asking about monthly salary in local currency,i just started in my new job and i am under an agency,so my monthly salary differs, it depends on the hours they're gonna give me ,i dont have fixed hours in my job nor fixed monthly income...Do you guys think is it ok to just check the "does not apply" box? or should i just somehow come up with a $ figure? I was thinking it would be easier to answer if i Just put my hourly rate but the form asked for monthly rate...please help..

I would take your total income for the time you have been working for the agency and divide it by the number of months you have been working.

It's really the only way to answer imo.

I have a casual job *I'm almost done yay!*, so i never had a set amount either. I could have full time hours for a few weeks, and then two shifts the next two weeks. I did a basic average - my average was about 60hrs every two weeks x my salary - my taxes.

If you just started a new job, do you have a schedule already at all? could you make an average out of that?

They did not ask me anything about that question, I think they just want to look at what kind of salary category you fit into, and which category you will try to get into when working in the US - because they really don't' care how much money we make right now...we're not going to be here much longer :D

I hope that makes sense...I'm half asleep...my lovely kitties kept me up ALLL NIGHT! lol

That's interesting that you subtracted your taxes do they as for a net amount rather than a gross amount - or they don't specify?

But, like you said, I doubt they really care.

trailmix...thanks for replying..you got a good point but i just started this job last month..just got my first pay cheque (for 2 weeks) which was an awful figure  but didn't matter much to me since I thought i'd be leaving soon..(hopefully)

Just like you Jennie,I'm a casual..my work called today to probably give me a schedule but I didn't call back..I was thinking i don't want to do it anymore since my interview is approaching and i'l just say bye bye...so I don't have a schedule yet which I could use to base my salary....

so i guess i'll just make up an amount to fill in? i'll just make an estimate out of nothing? LOL..just like you said, it may be not a big deal ...

thanks you guys...!!

I'm pretty sure the DS-160 asks for your gross (pre-tax) income. I checked my copy of the form and that's what I used.

Well, I emailed the consulate and sure enough...we need to do the DS160 also. So, we haven't even looked at this thing yet, but pictures have to be scanned in?. If you don't have a scanner how would you go about doing that?

I just took a photo of myself against a white wall and cropped it in Paint and it worked. Took me a couple of times to get the size right, but the resolution and lighting seemed to be acceptable.

As SapphireDreams mentioned, you can take a picture of yourself against a white wall. To crop or resize the picture, you can also use paint.net .. it is completely free and if you are not sure about the size in pixel, it gives you the option to view the print size in cm/metric or English units.
