For us at the interview, they asked for the documents one by one and we had all the time we wanted to get them. However I was pretty quick so the guy said that was good that I knew which form he was talking about and where it was in my folder so i didnt have to look for it and read the form to figure if it was the right one.

They took ONE form of:

DS 156

DS156K

I-134

DS 160

letter of intent

police certificates + translation (originals)

birth cerficate + translation (originals)

Passport bio page copy

medical envelop

2 photos

xpress envelop

I was left with all the copies and already had 2 extras copies of everything at home.

After the interview, the woman gave me back my original birth certificate. But I had 4 other originals at home

They kept the original translations so i have to get new ones for AOS now :(

Last saturday i decided to organize and clear all our K1 papers, forms, copies and envelops that we've been accumulatiung since october of last year. It took me 2 hours. I had copies of copies of copies of copies :)

But now evertyhing is organized, between K1 forms and letter, financial papers, birth certificates/passport copies and the K1 envelops to give when entering US. My passport is in a special folder ;)

We never got our pictures back when i think about it...

Thanks for that. That was very helpful.

So they keep the police report original and all the form/prepared originals...

Bummer they kept the original translation with notary... that was the hardest one for me to get.

But they give you back all your own originals. Birth certificate, divorce certificate etc. Thats good.

Should I ask for them back? or is it just expected they keep them.

Wow so much movement in the past few days! Congrats to seekersharer on getting an interview date! Kristin and Toronto_guy, Glad you can spend the rest of the wait together!

It's so nice to see the different ways of organizing papers. I bought a folder with 8 pockets I think and started to organize papers. I am making 2 copies of everything. when I did the translation of my BC, I asked for 3 copies so i have 3 originals which is great (was the same price too!). It is getting so exciting! I have a feeling that things will pick up....after a long weekend and lots of cookouts everyone should be re-energized!!!! LOL

I didnt ask to get them back because when she said "your visa is approved" I was seriously not able to think anymore.

All the pressure drops in one second and you realize that you are done. It only later, back home, than you're like "man i should have asked that, that and get that back" :)

Crossing the border this time was the hardest ever. I almost didn't make it when the POE guy said "I don't think I can let you in based on what you're telling me". It was our NOA2 that made a little sunshine in his day because he saw we were good little sheeple who follow the rules and have good intent! Phew! I'm so grateful to be with my family and let the interview date sort itself out. Now we can bite our nails together and drive down here alllllll over again in a few weeks! :-)

Advice to anyone trying to cross with a pending K1 - BRING YOUR PAPERS!!!

Well, today's Tuesday and I plan on calling in a few hours. I'll update this forum tonight with the progress!!

btw: Great job everyone with the 5 day a week calling program we got going on here! This thread is fantastic as are it's members!

Wow it’s been a busy weekend in here. Kristin and Toronto Guy that’s awesome that you made the POE, your separation is over now and that‘s what this whole thing is about! The last time I went to visit my fiancé the customs officer actually told me that travel was prohibited while you have a visa pending. After much debate with them (including the fact that I had visited a few months prior without incident) they reluctantly let me go. I had to return a form upon leaving the country though to prove that I’d left. I hate how you just never know with the border crossings.

Congratulations to those who got their interview dates, it‘s nice to see signs of life from Montreal. I’m sure the rest of us will hear something really soon too.

Quick question....My fiance got her Packet 3 today...in it all they are requiring to be sent back is the DS-230 Part 1 and the checklist. We've already done the DS-160....but it doesn't specify if we are to send a copy of that at this time. Also, they sent a copy of the DS-156K form....but no where in the instructions does it mention that. So....all we need to send in is the DS-230 Part 1 and the checklist, and then begin the agonizing wait? Thanks.

You did the DS 160 online right? That's all you need to do! Just keep the copy of the form and the confirmation page and bring them to the interview. You will need to fill in the DS 156K and bring it to the interview later as well. Just the DS 230 Pt. 1 and the checklist need to be sent back, then the waiting begins!! Good luck! :)

You didn't get a little cardboard card stapled into your passport? On the back, some handwritten info? You need the I94 for AOS.... Not sure why they didn't give it to you at your POE?
