i checked my packet 3 and it was written there that a certified copy is ok. i think im good with the one that i have.

If it has a seal and you got it from the Courthouse, sounds right to me. The Ontario long form birth certificate is a true certified copy as well with a seal - they keep the original always.

I think the term "certified" means its just as good as the original.

Hope you hear something soon!!

Last question before sending back the checklist and stuff. I promise! We are wondering if Chris needs to send back a copy of the DS-160 along with the checklist and DS-230. It seems like he does according to the Montreal Consulate Info page here on VJ. "What forms should be sent back to the Consulate? DS-230, DS-160 Online Form, Checklist" But Chris says his checklist doesn't mention including it. I just don't wanna delay anything too much more. Any input would be appreciated!

So I just got back from a week in the US visiting my fiance.... I decided to call to see if there are any changes on our status.... man, did I get the worst person EVER! She was either truly clueless, or I will give her the benefit that it was 10 mins to close and she could give a **** ***** about my call lol!

She pulled up my file, she said it's open and waiting for interview.... but the good news is that it's open... uh, duh... thanks, but excuse me for not bouncing around with joy, I would expect it to be open... then she asks if I have a son on there (child) and I said yes, she said 'oh I mean step son' i'm like, nooooo he's my son.... and here is the best part 'he was born in the Philippians?' ah, no, I am Canadian, he is Canadian... born and raised.... I don't even have that type of background.... I started to get worried that they messed up our file with someone elses... she was so out to lunch.... I had to end the call....

Now I feel like I have to call back to make sure our info is correct....

this girl should not be working there :(

It's getting harder and harder to come home every time, knowing that the time frame is coming so close.... I really hope we get our interview date for May... We are planning our move for June.... and i'm giving notice to my landlord this week..... these next two months are starting to feel like lifetimes :crying:

If I were you, I wouldn't be planning your move or giving your notice until you have your interview date for sure. Or have your visa in hand. There are no guarantees you will be able to move in June yet, nor do you know of any other delays that may come up.

Sadly right now, you are at the mercy of the US Government and can't really plan a thing, never know what is going to happen.

It would be sad to see you jobless and have no money coming in and no place to live if the Visa process is slowed down for you for some reason.

People can be so nice or so weird when you call the DOS, I hope you'll get someone nice tomorrow!

Almost impossible? No way! Alot of us, myself included, visited the US while our visa application is pending. There is no rule that says you can't. It's good to bring ties to Canada to show you're returning, but I was never asked. Plus, you don't need to offer the info you've applied for a visa.

I went there between NOA1 and NOA2 but since he is the one coming to Canada but I thought that it was harder to cross the border when you're approved by USCIS but are waiting for a visa....

That is good news though...

^^ I visited after the NOA2 and it was fine. They didn't even ask me anything - not even where I was going or who I was visiting. He just said "Have a nice trip" and sent me along! You just never know with them!

I got my visa today. It's so strange to actually have it in my passport ready to go. I honestly feel like the process went really fast in hindsight! Now let's hope June 20th comes just as fast!

WOW! How exciting!!!!!

My lawyer did tell me it would be difficult at this stage.... and I did get a few 'extra' questions... he was young... but when I told him that I have full custody of my son and he saw the babyseat in the back... told him my son was on March Break and mom was watching him... it seemed to do the trick... I have a wedding April 18th in Delaware, and I have the invitation, so I hope that will suffice.

I met with my lawyer while down there, and he said that due to my custody arrangement with my ex, I may be able to get my AP fast tracked.... something about attending in person to one of their local offices to complete some form? I hope so, I will even take my son with me, so he can bat his little 5 year old lashes lol! It'll be hard to have to wait 3-5 months... I will be driving to the buffalo boarder and having to pay for a hotel for them to visit :( I really want to make the transition on my son as easy as possible and I really try and support his relationship with his dad...so I hope it all works out.

I feel so weird making all these plans based on no set dates.... i'm giving notice this week on my lease.... i'm hoping to move for the first week of June.... and they do have it noted in their system that our wedding is in June...plus I could just stay at my mom's for a few weeks, it'll save me $2000 in rent! Plus our wedding is not concrete in plans... the two of us are going to the shore in Jersey where we first met and got engaged... and do an intimate ceremony.... then save the obnoxious Big Fat Greek Wedding for the end of the summer lol!

Also, the movers come and take your stuff, take it to their warehouse and then deliver it within a couple of weeks...so if anything, I can kinda use them as storage if needed....

Does anyone else feel that as the time nears, days feel like months and months like a lifetime? it's only a couple months left, and in the grand scheme of the 2 years we waited, it's insignificant.... but it's killing me! :crying:

We'd like to make plans but I'm scared to at this point. I am putting my place for sale on Wednesday coming. I hope it sells within a couple months. I can stay with a friend till I can move. We sent out packet 3 in January and are still awaiting my Montreal interview date. I call everyday...and everyday they say it looks good, everything is in order, your just waiting on your date. We were hoping for an April date...now its looking like May or June possibly. And your right, every day feels longer then the last. I just want to wake up beside my sweetie everyday. Not alot to ask for I don't think. Good luck on your interview date.

Good luck with selling your place. I've had my condo on the market since last July, when we first filed our application for the K1. I have had no lucky trying to sell it.... I am hoping the market is starting to pick up now that it is Spring. This is the last step that is holding me here in Canada and its totally frustrating me to no end.

So I wish you a speedy sale and that you miss the frustration I have been going through Wis-Can. And hopefully you will get your interview date soon.

That's scary, cause we sent our packet 3 March 5th (they rec'd it), so if you don't have a date yet, then i'm really worried :( The turn around seemed to be 3 months from P3 to interview for the last little while, but I guess they are slowing down in the spring :(

When I called a few weeks ago, they said we would likely have a May date....but it's not looking too promising....

I hate this part..... everything is so up in the air.... hopefully something miraculous happens and we all get dates before June :innocent:
