Well its been a few days since my wife started her journey to the US and I felt it was time to share with others. First off Hawaiian Airlines was 1 1/2 hours late on their departure. This was irritating but I could live with it, after all, I already called and confirmed that her POE was Seatle....wrong...her POE was Hawaii. While this isn't bad the fact that her plane took off 1 1/2 hours late and she had only 2 hours to begin with to transfer planes and now added the fact that the POE was hawaii...my wife any many other Filipino's missed their connecting flight.

According to my wife, the whole process took her about 10 minutes, the man asked her what my phone number was and then said welcome to America. Thats it for her, no other questions or anything. Now according to my wife, the people on CR1's went really fast but the immigration workers were really giving K1'ers the 3rd degree.

So on to her missed flight....hawaiian air book all the people who missed their connecting flights on a United Airlines flight to San Fransisco then on to their original destinations. So she ended up with a 10 hr flight from Manila to Hawaii, then a 5 hour lay over then another 6 hour flight to San Fransisco (I think) and another 2 hour flight to Seatle after a 4 hour lay over. So all in all she spent 27 hours in a airport and on a airplane to get to Seatle. It was just a 1 hour flight back to Boise from there. God I felt so horriable that my pregant wife had to go through this #### with Hawaiian Airlines and they didnt even seem to care. The moral of the story is: avoid Hawwaiian Airlines like the pleague. Im going to be writing some very serious emails to Hawaiian Airlines demanding a response and if that doesnt work then I will take my wifes plight to the Media, they have to be held accountable for this #######. Oh and this seemed a little odd...they made all Philippinos sit at the rear of the plane. It almost sounds like segergation out of the 50's 60's and 70's.

Why would you assume her POE would be Seattle? Everyone goes through immigration at the first US airport that a flight arrives to. The US does not have a "transit" feature at any airport.

I also guarantee that not only filipinos missed there connecting flight... Everyone who had a tight connection time missed there flight

Based on the fact that I called and confirmed with Hawaiin Airlines that the point of entry was going to be Seatle. I would of never booked her on this flight had I known her POE was Hawaii and as you said "The US does not have a "transit" feature at any airport." As for other who missed their flight becasue of the delay, I can not say as all my wife seen was other Philippinos.

this is sad..but lemme ask you rmncm..when you booked the flight for your wife, did you pre-choose her seat? when i did booked my flight through hawaiian airlines, i did choose my seat from manila to hawaii and then from hawaii to las vegas and i ain't on the rear end..

i have yet to travel with them (hawaiian airlines) this 10th of november..that's why this post came as a shock to me..i have flown through cathay pacific, PAL and NWA..some good, some not but i guess my only consolation this time is that ill finally be with the one i love..

after all we're blessed compared to others who up until now is still stuck waiting for the DV..

but i'm glad you're wife arrived safely..

god bless you both..and your little angel too..

Well, Hawaiian (or any airline for that matter) does not make the POE decision unfortunatly... So I guess they are guilty of misinformation... For anyone who has experienced foreign travel should understand that immigration is always the first airport...

No they would not allow me to choose her seat. I could not book directly with Hawaiian Air as the person who fly's has to be the same name that is on the credit card so I booked through Vayama.com and they told me via a phone call that seating is done by the airlines. I later found out that Hawaiian does have a office in Manila that my wife could of went to and booked with cash but I was just trying to safe her hassel and do it online. I guess that backfired on me.

payxibka, I have flown many times overseas and have never had to do with anything like this. But I am a USC and never experienced POE into the US so...

I guess Hawaiian air needs to have their cx service better educated so they dont keep making this mistake.

Did the airline drop you in via parachute? POE is the same for everyone. Doesn't matter USC or not.

Let me clarify, yes I have gone through POE before. It was always in the country I was visiting. I have never had a flight transfer in another country or same country while I was flying to another country. In my wifes case, I went off what the lady from Hawaiian airlines told me and that was the flight was just a simple transfer and would not go through immigration.

Yes I am happy that my wife is here, I'm very very thankful but at the same time they should treat immigrants as people and not cattle.

OH gosh, I am sorry you wife's flight was delayed. What reason did they give? Weather? Mechanical? They generally give a reason.

I'm sorry but Hawaii was her point of entry, I figured that was common sense. I've connnected through many countries and have to clear customs at the first stop. That's just, what I thought, normal.

Be happy your wife is home with you and you aren't waiting any longer. The rest is peanuts! Congrats!

Sorry to hear that. Not a very nice way to start her journey to the US. Things can only get better from then on out.

I live on the Big Island and can tell you that I avoid Hawaiian too. We fly Go! interisland and Alaska or United to the mainland.

Dude...there will always be things to complain about.

And I know you're pissed off that you couldn't be with her to comfort her and defend her rights.

But PLEASE look on the brighter side....you've just had a helluva weekend (accident and all) and now she's been through this horrible travel ordeal,

but the brighter side is that you're alive and healthy, and she's home.

After all this...you two HAVE TO start living happily ever after.

Leave the journey behind you as a tale to tell your grandkids.

Move forward into your future together.

You are both happy to have found each other...now go live happily ever after.

Everyone in economy class gets treated like cattle anymore. USC or not.
