If the HK police clearance doesn't arrive in time

My wife is to have her interview at the USEM Nov 13. All her documents are in except the Hong Kong police clearance she needs since she worked there a few years. The police clearance is to be sent directly to the embassy.

If she passes her interview and that is all that is lacking will they keep her passport and just wait? Or will they return it and make her come back to the embassy later?

PROBABLY, THEY WILL GIVE HER PASSPORT BACK UNTIL HER POLICE CLEARANCE FROM HONGKONG WILL BE SUBMITTED.

OR....

They'll keep her passport and she'll be given a white slip where it states she needs that police clearance from Hong Kong (considering she passed the interview). She'll be under Administrative Review till then.

After the interview she will receive the white slip and her passport. Then she will be required to submit the police clearance and so with her passport and her visa then will be processed.

In my case although I was interviewed in Singapore, the consulate gave me a white slip and keep my passport so that in case my HK police clearance will arrive at their office, they can process my visa right away. Two weeks after I was interviewed the US embassy calls me that I could get my passport with visa on it.

I called my wife just as she left the embassy and she said the interview went fine. I forgot to ask about the pink and white slips but she said the CO said the HK police clearance hadn't arrived yet (as expected) but they kept her passport and she paid the visa delivery fee so that sounds like a good thing!
