If I could only discover a way to generate electricity from all the RW scare posts...

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Under a cap and trade system, major polluters would be screwed. If coal powered plants can't financially support their pollution, then looks like we're going to have to quickly act toward other known solutions like wind, solar, and nuclear -- nuclear staying well away from California, of course. Time to put that great American innovation to use.

hope you're ready to put your money where your mouth is, because you'll see way higher energy costs then.

Hope the scare mongers on the right realize that both candidates advocate the very same cap and trade system. ;)

don't let that override your love for obama.

Dude, you're not getting it: Cap and trade on greenhouse gas emissions is coming no matter who wins on Tuesday. It's a good thing.

good for my wallet or yours?

Ultimately, it's good for all our wallets. And it will let our children breathe cleaner air.

i'm doubting that. unless you think a doubling or tripling of electricity bills is "good"

It's not like ignoring the need to develop non-fossil fuel sources has kept energy prices down. Not sure about you but my overall energy bill went up quite significantly during the Bush years. That's where ignorance gets us. I think it's time we face the music and lead the way towards renewable energy.

you'll find that's not as significant a price increase as what will come your way should we get this cap and trade ####### put on us.

When Obama says things like that, that's when I know he doesn't live in an ivory tower. We can close our eyes to the energy problems we are facing or we can try to address them, however uncomfortable and difficult that might be. The fact that he even addresses this problem on the campaign trail speaks volumes and the fact that McCain brushes it under the carpet speaks more. What happened to Palin the 'energy' expert?

I guess some of you guys actually believe that nuclear power didn't take off because of the power of 'peaceniks' too.:lol::lol:

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

You'll find that there isn't a candidate running who isn't advocating the cap and trade system. In other words, whatever happens tomorrow, cap and trade is coming. To suggest that this is an Obama issue is nonsense. And to suggest that we can just continue to destroy the future of the next generations in order to keep electricity cheap for the short term is no better. To think that the US would be well advised to trail the rest of the developed world in the development of alternate energy sources is short sighted at best.

i didn't suggest it's only an obama topic, did i? all i remarked was don't let that override your love for obama ;)

it seems you're all willing to open your wallet to feel better. have a good time with that. i on the other hand won't relish $400-$500 monthly electric bills due to this farce, regardless of which candidate wins and puts this into action. enjoy being short sighted about that!

We're already building 2 major solar plants here, along with wind farms, with more on the way. Looks like money is being put where the mouth is.

By the time coal is mostly or entirely phased out, we'll have the infrastructure to replace it. So whatever extra pinch we have will be short lived.

until an earthquake comes by and destroys it all. solar and wind supplement, not replace. ask peejay.

I'm no expert. I just read from various sources. The concensus appears to be that alternative energy sources are supplements rather than replacements. But, what do I know? Seeing is believing and I'll believe solar, wind, and nuke replacing hydrocarbons when I see it actually happen. Talk is cheap and all I see with these grand proclamations so far is talk.

Ain't nothing for free and selling the unwashed masses on the idea of spending a whole lot more for energy might be appealing in the talking stage, but when the bills actually arrive in the mail...we will see.

But if you shoot the first few that b*tch about it, the rest usually fall in line pretty quick. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

You are confusing nuclear power with nuclear weapons. What a shock.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Not THIS Bull$hit again.

Read my lips... McCain AND Obama are for Cap and Trade.

We're only hours away...let's stop trying to pull up dirt on one candidate.

Maybe try to find something positive about your candidate...if you can.

McCain didn't use his father (the Admiral) to get out of POW camp early. That's integrity.

Hey. Someone asked for positive and I provided something positive. You didn't
