I have a question. Please respond someone who knows about this new law. I am a Female (US Citizen) filed a petition for my fiancée (Male- Russian Citizen). Should this new law affect us anyhow? At the US Embassy in Moscow website I read that all the petitions that were wrongly approved were sent back to the US. As I understand this law intends to protect foreign women from being abused by American men. Is this law going to affect me? Are they going to check my background even I am a woman inviting a man??? Please help.

It would help if you had a timeline or at least mentioned when the receipt/received date on the NOA1 was (not the notice date). Any petition that has a receipt/recieved date on the NOA1 dated 6 March or later is affected under the new IMBRA.

You and I are in the same boat.

My petition was sent...well you can see the timeline but I have not heard anything since. I would imagine that because of recall we got pushed back, as they have to process people who already had interviews scheduled first. But that's just my guess. It will be a loooooong wait it seems.

I also find it interesting, that it is not very often women file for men, most of the time it is the other way around.

Good luck to you and best wishes

Eva.

Hi,

I doubt your petitions would of been affected by the recalls as they were I-129F for fiances. I-130's have still been moving along. I-129F for spouses filed at NBC on 6 March and later wont be approved until they have met the requirements once USCIS has what is needed in place.

All the best

Lorelle
