Well, the majority of the country is lazy and stupid then. Why is it right to take from those that have and give to those that won't? That's not what makes this country great.

sure made this guy popular too.

Why isn't it right to take from those who have and give to those that can't? That's what COULD make this country great.

Rewarding laziness will make us great?

Exactly! Laziness is responsible for most of civilization's advances.

The guy who invented the sail was fed up with rowing. The first person to hop on the

back of a horse was too lazy to walk. Horses were too slow, which was the reason

people invented cars. Remote control technology was invented by someone who was

too lazy to get off the sofa. I can go on forever!

Why do those that have feel it's right to take from those that don't? That's what's been going on for decades.

How do they take from those that don't have? In that case, what are they taking from those that don't have? If this has been going on for decades, who has been taking it?

If Obama's tax plan involves a tax reduction to benefit 95% of American taxpayers, then it's not surprising that the majority of American taxpayers would support the proposal. However, what cause me to pause and think critically of his platform is in the words "we are all going to have to sacrifice" in order to get this country back on it's feet. I object to tax reduction being offered as a "token", while the big sacrifice that we should be prepared to make has not yet been articulated.

This is something that worries me as well.

Why aren't more people objecting to this?

Likely because they're too busy cheerleading for Obama or McCain to actually read something that requires thinking.

I think he is referring to the poorer people who get a big chunk of their paycheck taken away for taxes...

Taxes will be raised on the top 5 percent of wage-earners, who now carry 60 percent of the U.S. income tax burden, and tens of millions of checks will be sent out to the 40 percent of wage-earners who pay no federal income tax. Like the man said, redistribute the wealth, spread it around.

Somehow I am kind of leery of government seizing someone elses' assets to give to someone else. At what point does this type of sh_t stop? I'm an upper middle class skilled blue collar worker that has paid off my mortgage, have a low debt load, and have built up retirement / personal savings through frugal living. Maybe I look a little bit too successful and need to be taken down a notch? Is this what the new America is supposed to be about? Change? No thanks. Don't want to go there.

I don't begrudge the rich the fruits of their labor as long as it has been aquired legitimately and honestly.

nah. That doesn't make sense because the "have's" in that case would be the government and I don't think he's against the government taking some taxes from everyone.

I'm guessing he means that the rich have gotten rich off the backs of the proletariat without returning a fair share of company profits to them or something along those lines. Could be also that they've taken away the have-nots personal time, working them to the bone while they go embezzle away the company's profits at million dollar cocktail parties, leaving them without their hard earned pension plans they were promised.

They take that which creates the wealth: labor. Productivity gains are no longer shared. That's taking from those that don't have by those that do. ;)

Sounds like a real nice plan, but eventually the "have nots" begin to cast an evil eye on the petit-bourgeoisie (i.e.: the middle class). Been there, done that...let's not go there again. Doesn't anyone read history?

Yes, misery loves company. Instead of working hard to buy your own milk cow...you wish for your neighbor's milk cow to dry up and die.
