Can anyone help? If the person submitting the Affidavit of Support is neither the petitioner and nor a relative, what should be written in for Question 11: "I intend/do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3." In the example form from the menu above it states "N/A (K-1 visa process for permanent residence". In our case it would be a K-3 visa, but is this an appropriate answer is the supporter is not the petitioner? Should we instead state specific amounts of support (e.g., room/board, maintenance in a specific dollar amount)?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Do not, is an acceptable answer for a K visa.

I thought the petitioner HAD to be the sponsor, even if co-sponsors are needed. Maybe I misunderstood the OP because its late lol

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

You're right but the OP was simply asking how a co-sponsor answers a specific question.

Actually, I need clarification here too. I am the petitioner, but I am not employed. Since my children and I returned from Tanzania (where my husband remains), we have been living with my family. I do not own a home or even a car, as we sold everything we owned before moving to Tanzania in 2006. My husband's job in Tanzania provides our support. In this case, am I required to complete an I-134 as the sponsor with a co-sponsor also filing an I-134 to make up the difference? Getting the co-sponsor is not a problem, but I am unclear as to whether I must be the primary sponsor.

Also, my husband has a job waiting for him here, though we are not sure how quickly he'll be able to start since he has to file for the EAD first.

Thanks again,

Mama Lulu

Yes, you must be the primary sponsor and supply your own I-134 with supporting documentation but the co-sponsor doesn't "make up the difference". They must qualify fully on their own for K visa cases.

Thanks again, that's a big help.
