If you have an attorney, you may want your atty to write a "friendly" letter to your aunt explaining some elements of american law and how you would really, really want to avoid a civil lawsuit with her.

I'm sorry your Aunt is so crazy. Why she would take it upon herself to decide who you can and can't marry is beyond me but that just sucks. I hope it works out. Try to find some dirt on her. Good luck sister.

Hello

Long story but to get to the point...Here we go...

I have an aunt that has a vendetta to ruin my life. She has left a message for me stating so. She knows I am in the process of obtaining K1 visa for my fiance in Brazil. She is starting to say that she is going to do do everything she can to ensure my fiance does not obtain her visa. I am just really starting to get nervous. We've received our NOA2 and we are currently waiting for our interview date. Does anyone know if she really can do something? Everything is legit and all we want is to be together but this person has serious mental issues and is trying cause me and my fiance alot of grief and heartache. I have an immigration lawyer and he has said this sort of thing happens often but is usually an ex-wife or girlfriend. Am I just worrying too much or do I really have a reason to worry. Has anyone experienced or heard of a similar issue? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

RR

If you're really, really worried about this, you could probably get a restraining order against her based on her answering machine message and then inform USCIS that this person wishes to harm you and that if she contacts them about your case, they should know that she's actually not allowed within XX feet of you. You could probably even warn them ahead of time even without a restraining order. But if you feel threatened in anyway by her... take these threats seriously and make sure you protect yourself physically and legally and in regard to the visa.

Good luck.

Oddly enough, I have second hand experience with this...not just with visa, but I watched a friend's aunt cause major trouble in her life...for NO reason.

Her solution: she got a restraining order. First she filed a complaint of harrassment (the recording on the answering machine would be great)...then she filed for a restraining order. Didn't cost her much and it solved so many problems. If her aunt ever started trouble, she would just present the restraining order to whomever was contacted by her aunt, and that solved it all.

my fiance is from pakistan and no one in my family is worried at all about him coming home. my family has even offered to sponser him financially and my brother has opened his new home to us to stay as long as we need to get on our own. i moved to Japan to be with him while we wait out this visa ordeal. I have an older son from a previous marriage who stayed in USA with his father til I return. We have joint custody. For the person that wanted to know whether a former spouse can stop you from taking your child out of country..he can with joint custody due to the fact that both parents need to sign a concent for the child to obtain a passport. I f however the child already has one then shouldnt be a problem. For the other person wondering if family can sabbotage your case...NOPE! Immigration goes by the book and law. If and only if they are suspicious will they question family and even then that person has to show good reason. If all papers are in order and you have a lawyer then dont sweat it. let your family bark all they want. your case has to do with you and your fiance. Best wishes to all of you!

If an allegation of fraud is made by any third party, it is the responsibility of the agency that approve the visa application to investigate the fraud allegation before the visa (or PR status) can be issued.

There was a person on here in the past whose alien mother-in-law made the allegation that the USC was paid to marry her son. The AOS was put on hold and the couple was brought in for a Stokes Interview. A few months after the Stokes Interview his permanent resident status was approved.

While it won't completely derail the process, it can throw a wrench into the works and slow things down. DOn't let it get to you.. Just keep your head high and show the proper authorities that you are a legitimate couple.

Just spread some disinformation tell everyone you were denied and keep everything top secret

Good idea! It's none of anyone's business anyway and at least it'll get her (and anyone else giving you a hard time) off your back for a while.

Yeah or tell her that you and your fiance broke up, all the while you continue the process behind her conniving back. :P

Really, how would she know if you are or aren't in the system? I would assume without your case number, she couldn't call and get any information, and I know you haven't shared that with her!
