Hello,

We have recently filed for K1 and I have some questions if anyone's wife was an accountant in Russia. If I understand it correctly, she must take the CPA exam for our state, California. Has anyone's wife taken this test and can you recommend resources for her? Also I wanted to find some information out about the best way to get her degree recognized in the US. I read a topic about this in another thread but there was no specific information about who can help us get this done. It seems like it would be easiest to begin while she is still over there.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

I have a degree in accounting but I have never taken the CPA exam. But my coworkers who have taken the CPA exam have all used the Becker CPA review to get them ready for the test. I think Becker CPA review is the most popular CPA exam review course in the U.S. You can go to their website to get more information: http://www.beckercpa.com

You can start from the CPA exam web site (www.cpa-exam.org), it will give you most of the information you need for her to sit for the exam plus licensing requirements for each state. Now most of the states require a candidate to have 150 college credit hours to sit for the exam. The education she received in Russia needs to be evaluated by one of the academic evaluation organizations listed in the web site to receive credits. Anyway, check out the web site, contact your state board and find out exactly what you need. Good luck!

Nobody must take the exam unless that want to be a CPA...

YMMV
