Can she travel outside US with admission stamp in passport only?

After receiving a CR-1 visa, my wife entered the US on 10/2/08. Her foreign passport has an "admitted" stamp from US immigration from that date. She now has a social security card and California ID as well.

Can we travel to Canada to ski without her having any entry problems on our return to the US? Where can I read up on this?

I-551 stamp = GREEN-CARD, the passport acts as a temp Green-card until getting the actual card.

The stamp allows re-entry from a trip abroad.

The I-551 also allows entry to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean without a visa.
