If your child was undergoing treatment for TB when you left the Phils., it would be wise to bring with you already the medicines she takes. It took us two days to get her medicine as she had yet to be checked by the family doctor and when the prescription was finally approved, the pharmacy had yet to make it, as they said, from the scratch.

sorry to hear that.

If your kid missed one day of taking the prescription, you have to start from scratch.

TB has 2 classifications.Class A is positive TB infection and could pass to anyone, yes u can enter the US if you have an approved waiver of excludability for Class A but in some cases you need to do your treatmetment in the Philipines. If Class B TB is not infectious so you a child or an adult could travel, but you need to see the health department in your area.

Yes, we were allowed.

Actually, the TB medications that my daughter has been taking for about 3 months now was more of prophylactic she having had a history of primary complex. I had her checked for TB a month and half before our medical exam and the pulmonolist found some spots on her lungs (cannot recall the exact word...something like calcified) and just to be sure that there would be no problem when we finally had our medical exam at SLEC, the pulmonologist prescribed us the meds for prophylaxis. I am also taking the same meds.

Because I brought with me our medical records including immunization history at SLEC, we were spared from the tuberculin testing and had just our chest x-ray which yielded normal findings. Despite that, I would rather complete our prophylaxis especially that we surely will be going home for vacations every year.

So then you are on Class B...nothing to worry about.Once you arrive here in the States, your POE Immigration Officer will contact you to see your local health center and also the health center in your area will contact you and your daughter for a visit at their clinic.

Ah, that's good. Are we gonna just wait or it's better if we already saw the health center in our area? Our family doctor said the same thing also when he checked my daughter to fill up the prescription. But he didn't make any referral.

Yes, I am. We actually had our daughter checked by a pedia-pumonologist as referred by our family physician following the calls from the health department. She is cleared of TB and was just advised to drink only the INH for 4 months commencing from the time she started to take it in August. We are happy with this as she really is getting tired of drinking the meds.

Thanks for the input!
