I need help on filling forms correctly on I-864 Under Section 213A. My mom is dependent from me and my husband. She has petitioned for her sons. We are filling out her I-864 Affidavit of Support. Since she is dependent on our income, we also need to fill out I-864As, one for me and my husband

1st Question: I-864, Part 5, requires Sponsor's household size. Item "g", states: "OPTIONAL; If you have siblings, parents or ADULT CHILDREN with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submittng Form I-864A enter number here.

Obviously I should put a "1" for me. However, we are wondering if we should enter a "2" for myself AND my husband, even though he is not one of ADULT CHILDREN The income for the number of persons entered in item g, is reflected in block 14 b. We need to include my husband's income, and are submitting I-864As for each of us, but are confused how to reference it. We thought we would include both of our income on selection "g". If we do NOT put it here, how do we include his I-864A as part of our submission package?

This is especially confusing since the 1040 we are submitting is a joint return and has the total gross combined income for us both, though we have attached W2s for each of us to our respective I-864As.

2nd Question: On block 10, of the I-864A, there is a check box to indicate we filed a Federal tax return and have attached a copy for the most recent year. Then it asks for the last three years total income reported on my 1040EZ. However, we don't file a 1040EZ. Should we be reporting the last three years we filed on the 1040?

We are on our third iteration filling this out. We keep getting back cryptic comments that our submission is wrong in these areas, but no insight as to HOW it is wrong. These are the only two areas we can home in on as being in question.

Appreciate any help you can give us.

Tess from Washington State
