Do you believe that taxing oil companies will cause consumers to use less oil? If so, why?
Rising gas prices made public transportation soar. That's one added benefit.
wait, wait, wait. Are you suggesting that taxing oil companies will actually result in higher prices for consumers?

but that's ok, it gets everyone to rely on public transportation.

..which is run by the government. And the government wants people to be dependent on it, rather than self sufficient. Why? to keep it in power and grow that power....

The government, especially here, collects quite a lot of taxes from gas. If everyone starts using public transportation, what happens to that gas tax revenue?

Simply a bad assumption.

They find a new excuse/mechanism to tax you. The government has no shortage of excuses to tax people, trust me.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

 just like if everyone quit smoking, they'd have to find another source of revenue since there are no taxes rolling in from that.

Or like how they take out the red light cameras they put in because revenue from tickets for running the light go down...but hey it's all about safety, right?

The government does not want the general populace to be healthy.

It is not good for the GDP.

You're thinking too highly of the government.

The only thing they're going to see if they lose a lot of revenue. Hence why it's doubtful they'd ever force everyone into public transportation. Too much infrastructure for cars anyways.

I concur with Charles. A temporary gravitational shift caused a loose spacepod to collide with one of my data terminals, causing a slight malfunction in my logic board. The problem has been corrected. I will never allow the government to tax BEER in substitute of nicotine. Capital gains taxes will be raised in exchange.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
