Lawd, I have to see if I still have contact with my LSW friends. Here is the thing with DC area the housing...JG will tell you she's visited the area and Misch, sbj, Roxie will all tell you it no cheap. I've lived in New York, Georgia and Florida. I made a killing in the early 90s as a legal secretary in Manhattan...we didn't have to pay for housing or living expenses we were working on a large case for 14 months...I had so much fun I was only 22 years old. I want to live in Connecticut, some of the houses I saw there were so beautiful and HUGEEEEE. I've also lived in Bronx, Queens and Mt. Vernon and a few months in Yonkers, but Manhattan was the BOMB! Lord, Florida was a headache only perk...I never paid more than $200 for a ticket to Jamaica and would go to jamaica 2 times a month...no kids no real reponsiblity so I had the funds...

My husband is just starting off at a jr college and just has to take a placement test. You dont need to go back to the GED if you have a diploma. Once you get into the college, no job can tell you you dont have a HS degree cause you are already in college. So he doenst have to go the GED way if he doesnt want to .

Oh ok...will consider that then...he will definitely need to continue an adult literacy program to bring up to speed his reading and writing skills and once that is up to par then he can just consider doing the jr college route...that sounds like a much better plan...thanks for the insight...

We went this route and it's been 3 months and he's already improved a whole lot. His math skills are excellent. Next month he starts a college math course. He did excellent on the math placement test...better than I did back in the day.

Jakeswife, you just made me joke on my bullybeef and rice bout "her neck got really dark you could grate coconut on it"....my grandmother was a midwife and that' show I would hear her describe some of the woman...i'm sitting here cracking up

Lita, how is Evan doing?

speaking of big noses, i was having a debate with my coworkers who are white that black women, most of the ones that i know, myself included when i was pregnant my nose went halfway across my face, and when i had my son, it went back to normal, this happened with both babies, but they swear a persons nose cant stretch...LOL>> i tell them its a black thang....

jakes wife, im with you, i cant wait to have another child, this time with my SO, i thought i was done, as indicated by the wired grey hair that will not lay down with all the gel in the world sticking off the side of my head but heck i still got a little time, im only 36...

honey i thought u were going to lock your hair. my fear about having big nose came from seeing my friends'nose when she was preggers. she was not cute and her neck got really dark you could grate coconut on it.

it was a sight. thank god it cleared up after the birth of her baby girl.

 OMG!!! You a mess for that one! But its sooooo true! My sis was the same way. Freaking pregnancy shadow. My other sis, developed a dark line down the middle of both legs and thighs. It was like a complete straight split line. One side was dark one was light. Absolutely crazy what the melanin in our skin does to us.

i guess in that case her legs look like the eclipse. man i have seen so many unattractive pregnant women in my time that if i become one i will break my mirrors until i recover from the ugliness.

sorry to be so vain but i am not the only one looking at me when i take that plunge so i pray that the only thing i gain is plenty of breast and a little more a###ss

See I've been thinking of Florida. I'm a Cali girl so I cant handle cold weather places. Why did you not like Florida? I dont know much about it, except love the humid weather. I like new Orleans areas too, and maybe Georgia also. Otherwise I'm just moving outta the country. I cant handle anywhere cold. Like right now its 60 some degrees and my butt is freezing.

You are funny Jakeswife. Some women get prettier (well glow) during pregnancy. Not everyone turns into monsters.

No problem. They have really good literacy programs in my hood too. Lots of immigrants from all over and there are free programs for them to learn to read and write better in the English language. You in the Bronx, I'm sure you have those round there too. Also if you have a parks and rec program in NYC then they have great programs to sign up for at low cost. Like here in my town, the parks an rec is awesome! Evan already on the 2nd day here found the park up the street and went into the rec center an they had an indoor basketball court and gym....for free! I've lived here for 3 years and never knew it was there. But the city also has programs to join sport leagues, take dance classes....which he want to learn salsa. They have fitness classes, language, music. Keeps a person very busy if they are not in school or working.

It's not that I didn't like Florida, I was offered a job that paid $20,000 more so I moved back to Maryland. I lived in Pembrook Pines with my aunt and it was absolutely beautiful.
