Lita - A said very similar things when he got here. Things are just so quiet and different. I remember coming home from work and the radio blasting dancehall and the TV on HypeTV and all sorts of noise. It helped him feel more like in JA - hearing the music and the patwah and everything. To this day we still listen to a lot and watch JA movies and things, definitely helped boost his spirits.

Yeah Evan has already added speakers to my laptop and is on the JA internet stations for his music. it makes a difference. I told him I'll get him a sound machine of the outdoors sounds too.

 Definitely do that. We did as well. You can even find good ones online and just play it through the speakers if you want.

Jg..i would think that the ppl wanting to file CR1 should discuss if they are gonna be apart for 2yrs so then they will get their 10yr..it's also cheaper in the end ?

wow..13 of us..and no duppies or guest..for the 1st time in a long time

Not really, in the two year period how many times do you fly out, all those plane ticket adds up.

right that's ur choice..to fly out that many times..i was there 3 times a yr..we got married in 2005 we didn't file til 2006 got here 2007

Did that drive Kashi mad? I realize that going thru life or your day in Jamaica, music and patwah, and a few random cussouts is like daily life. he really misses that. its so much more vibrant in JA than it is here, no matter if you lived in NYC on Times Square. The American culture is so controlled and untrusting sometimes. I see it more and more now, and its sad to me.

OH YES !! WE HAD SOME WORDS LITA NO JOKE..IF I LIVED IN THE BUSH LIKE YAADS ( :) ) I PROLY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A DIVORCE BY NOW..JUST CAUSE IT'S SO QUIET...GOOD THING HE COULD DRIVE FROM JA...IT'S TOUGH MAN GOTTA BE STRONG

yeah, thats are issue too. I think it just makes his home sickness kick in faster than normal. I mean being at home all day and in this country where people dont really take to talking to strangers to much cause they all so stuck up and instilled with fear from the rass government or media and gangs or whatever. Our country is not a very friendly one.

I don't agree with that generalization across the board, Marlita.

I know you dont. But its how I see it in my daily life so for me its as true as it gets.

NO JG! Its noise, just not "vibes" noise. Its a big difference. No tree frogs at night, no crickets, no bike taxi or chicken or rooster, or old rasta patwah, or the latest selecta in the atmosphere spinning, or little squeaky voice kids in trees, or traffic and JA badwords, or the smell of some roadside vendor grilling. Its way different. The noise is just either not there, or way different.

i totally agree Lita, u know what u can get for Evan for x-mas a subcription to like iriefm or something...he can listen to the local programs and such

That's a great idea. I am getting A a subscription to the Gleaner and the Star for Christmas :D I just hope sams24-7.com is willing to send it all this way and it makes it every week. I am having a hard time not telling him what I am getting him. Imagine his face when he opens the mailbox and the Star is there :D

WHY TAXES? he wouldn't have made enough for this year to file anyways

Oh yeah, I always forget that their is a limit. I just didn't want to have to deal with the paperworks for filing his taxes.

You also might want to be careful there Portland. If a new presidential administration decides to go by the 2008 tax returns for some sort of added refund in 2009, it might be beneficial to have had him make a little money in 2008.

The most he would be able to work in 2008, would probably be two weeks. I don't know if he would get any breaks from that.

Right. I of course dont know everbody in the country, but as a general statement, the US is not a very friendly country. many other countries see this in us too. I think it just takes seeing others countries style to realize it. Of course there are other countries worse than us, but there are some better than us. Its just an American style thats all.

I read the Gleaner every day online. The Observer once a week. The Star, not so much.

Yardie, I have a friend in Canada who used to get the Gleaner sent all the way to them in Canada. It arrived most times.

Come visit Connecticut - We're a bunch of snooty bytches here :innocent::whistle::D

I think it really depends on the area you are in - Even last week, being in MD - everyone was so polite, you got greeted in every store you entered, even 7-11 they said thank you, have a nice day - Places where I live, if you get a grunt you are lucky.

Until we know what is going to come down in a new administration, there is no way to guess this either.

Iriefm didn't work for us for some reason. It kept fading in and out.

Damien asked why did we move outta the "hood" over the summer  It's too quiet where we live now. Mind you, I lived in the other place for 10 years it was a good neighborhood but it started to get rowdy. I thought I was doing the right thing...guess not.
