Okay, i need someone on here who can tell me about resale shops, as JG mentioned. I am sorting thru my clothes and my kids clothes for this move and am really too lazy at this point and time to lug them to Gooodwill, since the dumptster is closer, but with a resale shop what happens, if someone buys what you brought in you get a portion of the money????

Ever mistakenly taken the pen you signed a check or credit card with??

In early June, a Baltimore steamfitter was flagged for deportation while going through customs in Atlanta after a trip to his native country, Trinidad. The man, a permanent U.S. resident for 28 years, said he had never had trouble entering after previous travels abroad, but this time, records show, authorities' interest was piqued by a 1994 theft conviction. According to his attorney, Cynthia Rosenberg, the man had stolen the pen he used to sign a check at a Baltimore grocery store.

Ok I can see deporting people over major crimes or continued crimes but some of this stuff is just plain stupid and then how much tax payer money is being wasted on all these hearings and appeals and other such foolishness?! Too bad common sense is not common. We need some laws that let people with comon sense use common sense and good judgement in order to stop clogging the system with mess.

It's a scary thing - I worked a case where a man was put in deportation - he had shoplifted a steak when he was in college - then lived here for 50 years, owned his own business, etc....

Hi Yardies! Just wanted to let you know that my timeline has started today! I'm nervous but happily excited at the same time! Mailed the I-129F package off and now it's just waiting and getting prepared for the next phase. Now I can sit back a little bit and just enjoy this crazy thread now that all of the gathering and assembling is done! ;)

Congrats and Good Luck!

I've got a weird question/ topic....has anyone learned to braid their man's hair to save $$ here? What costs him about $3-5 US there is going to cost at least $60 here and I don't know if we'll be able to afford that (especially in the beginning before he can work). I don't want him to have to go around lookin a mess so I'm wondering how hard it would be for me to learn? Hell I'd pay $100 to learn from someone so I can do it thereafter. Am I just being too cheap? My 'maintenance' costs are very low so it's hard to imagine paying that kind of money for him to look good.

My husband cut his braids a good while before coming. Thank God. I braided is hair once in Jamaica and he complained on how tight it was.

DJ and I have had this talk already - I know how to braid, but just basic and neat, not fancy. When I used to work in the group home, one of my co-workers taught me how to do it. He keeps saying he's going to shave his head before he comes

Please help! I feel like I'm running a restaurant here. My husband won't eat what my son likes and my son won't eat what my husband likes. Most nights I'm cooking 2 different things. The only thing the both of them will eat is fried chicken and festival which I don't like to cook more than once every few weeks cuz it is so unhealthy. Anybody else have this problem? You wouldn't believe how much we spend on food. Anybody else have this problem? Wha mi fi do?

I forgot I wanted to shout out and say Thank God for Obama, the Democrats, or whomever else is responsible and allowed me to fill up my gas tank for $35 today. It's so nice not to gasp at the $80+ it used to be.

OK! THATS FOR DYAM SURE... my camry used to cost $75 :help: now i'm down to around $50

Me too. Just noticed I haven't been to the gas station all week

Hubby asked what is my dream car last night...I said I already have it...love my Camry. He called me cheap

SBJ - My husband asks me all the time. Why he had me test driving cars/SUV while we waited on an oil change. I'm not getting a new car..unless he's buying.

As for dream car- I thinking I like the Mazda CX7 or CX9 (depending how big our family gets). I used to want a BMW...my mom has always had one...but I just don't see the major difference.

I would cook what I cook. Whoever doesn't eat it will be hungry. That is what I do at my house with 4 kids I have not the time nor inclination to be making meals according to everyones tastes.

My guy is asking what I want him to do with his hair and I told him it's his hair and no matter what he wants to do I'll think he's handsome. He is talking about starting locks so he doesn't have to get braiding done but I want him to stick with what he's happiest with.

One thing that cracked me up when we first talked about his hair was when he said, "mi hair is TALL"....not LONG, TALL. LOL! I know, it's how they say it there but I'd never heard it that way before and found it really amusing!

last night i started crying b/c i really wanted to be in JA wit Ryon.

Sorry R4life...I think we all know just how you feel! Last time I left JA I cried the minute we said goodbye, through the whole line going through security and all the way up until take off on the plane. I felt so lonely coming home. It'll be a little less raw soon though, don't worry.

For consignment shops, I don't think it's worth it for me in most cases since none of my clothes are all that fancy but what I like to do is find out what homeless shelter or women's house might want some of my nicer items. There are places that take your things to clothe people who have nothing else and also to help women who've left domestic abuse situations get on their feet and get jobs (with gently used work clothes). At least I feel good about giving stuff away then.

I'm with Sol on that one! Or let your husband cook what he wants and you can focus on your son. I just hope when my guy gets here that he'll be open to try what I cook. As long as I can mask or hide the onions he'll be okay!

Just wanted to check in with everyone and say thanks again for your kind wishes! Now I've got to go get ready for a little potluck party...I'm bringing home made biscuits like those cheesy garlic ones you get at Red Lobster! MMMMM!

Night Yardies!
