I'm thinkin the 1st week in December i love the decorating too in JA my mom and I used to sit and make those paper decorations like streamers...i loved the holidays in JA..we never had much but i was always happy..can't wait for the carols i heard one today and we watched home alone 2 last night...laugh everytime

My parent's put up their 14 ft. tree last weekend. Had my kids over there on a ladder decorating it. I refused to participate. Not until after Thanksgiving.

They do a cool thing. It's a German tradition to put a pickle ornament on the tree as the final step. The first person to find it on Christmas day wins a prize. Hubby swears this is going to be the year he finds it. I don't even try.

The will leave their tree up till like February. Mine comes down the first weekend in January.

No. Dad is allergic to real trees.

Not yet. I live down the street from the Grand Ted Drewes. Haven't seen any indication that they are preparing it yet.

Hi Yardies! Just wanted to let you know that my timeline has started today! I'm nervous but happily excited at the same time! Mailed the I-129F package off and now it's just waiting and getting prepared for the next phase. Now I can sit back a little bit and just enjoy this crazy thread now that all of the gathering and assembling is done!

Tell me once we have 2 year green card can you file for the next thing (removal of conditions I thinkg) when you are 6 months til expiration?

You can file Removing of Conditions 90 days before your green card expires and then naturalization you can file 90 days before the immigrant has been a permenant resident for 3 years (minus time spent outside of the US).

You don't have to apply for citizenship either. We're only doing it for employment purposes.

As for citizenship, let me give you a scenario.

One day a permanent resident is driving down the street and a pedestrian steps out in front of him. He is going say 10 miles over the speed limit.

He tries to stop, but kills the pedestrian. Gets arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter. Then is deported, never allowed to come back.

True story!

The man, a permanent U.S. resident for 28 years, said he had never had trouble entering after previous travels abroad, but this time, records show, authorities' interest was piqued by a 1994 theft conviction. According to his attorney, Cynthia Rosenberg, the man had stolen the pen he used to sign a check at a Baltimore grocery store.

Ok I can see deporting people over major crimes or continued crimes but some of this stuff is just plain stupid and then how much tax payer money is being wasted on all these hearings and appeals and other such foolishness?! Too bad common sense is not common. We need some laws that let people with comon sense use common sense and good judgement in order to stop clogging the system with mess.
