I'm late...but I had to chime in. JAEyes...you just happened to bring up a topic that many have skirted around or whispered about in PM. I wrote (actually can't find a way to end) a "fictional" story about these whirlwind romances in Jamaica.

There is NO WAY in HE!L you should even be considering marriage after a two week vacation, and only a month and a half of actual interaction with a STRANGER! I don't care what you say...you don't KNOW anything about him, except that he may have some good sex. He made you feel special, loved, like a woman...ray tay tay...xyz. All BS!

I so SICK and tired of these LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT marriages. I would have been married 20 times over if I listened to all the promises of love and undying devotion that I hear in Jamaica. I have been told that I never have to stay in a hotel again...that I will stay with "My Man" when I come back to Jamaica. I have been asked to come and meet mother, father, brother, friend, pastor. Why in the HE!L would I need to meet them, and I don't know you?

Then, when he talks to you...his rate of speech slows down, and he speaks "Queens English". If you spend any time around his friends/family, he will speak in very fast raw patwah. Do you understand it? Or, are you standing around like a deer caught in headlights, nodding every now and then, probably grinning like an idiot because you want to be accepted by these "important" people to your "new man".

I have seen some questionable relationships on this very site...not my place to judge...but it is hard to stay politically correct. Why would you be ready to marry a man but be afraid to discuss what you need or desire in an intimate relationship with your man? If I step on toes...you may want to move them. Also, you should never determine what steps to make in your relationship by following some cookie cutter plan for marrying a Jamaican man.

The questions from Sus should be taken seriously. I'm not even going to say slow down...because you won't listen if your mind/heart is already made up.

Hold up...hold up. Why in the world would you come a BB full of strangers to ask if you are making the right choice anyway? There is no way we "real strangers" can tell you that your relationship is real.

Some women have even gone as far as to try and classify why their relationship is different. "Well...I know I only knew him for 4 days...but I didn't meet him on the beach or in a resort. He was actually a handcart vendor selling peanuts. So...our love is most definitely real."

I have only seen a very select few that are actually willing to put in the work and wait the long haul for their true love. Big up for that sisters! You all know who you are.

Only time will tell you if you have something real. Even then, marriages and relationships in general are hard as He!L to keep. Over 50% of all US/US marriages end in divorce. Those are staggering odds. Then, you add in bringing a man from a different country that you barely understand...wow.

Best of luck though.

I think that if you asked any one of us here if we were 100% confident in what we were doing all the time, you would be hard pressed to find one of us who honestly could answer yes - I know we all have those - Am I f*******n crazy? Moments - Not that we doubt our love, but you can't go through this process without having some of those -

Hi yardies! I'm up late tonight...moon is getting full and it gets harder for me to sleep. Anyway, just wanted to comment on how refreshing and reassuring this is to read because I have doubts but have tried to remain very realistic, patient and so forth in this endeavor. And even after all that, I still won't know the outcome until it happens. Things may work out great as I'd hope or we may part ways after some time but I'm prepared for that if that's the case. It is good to know that others go through the same stuff though. Okay, back to catching up.....
