They aren't as expensive as you think...especially if you have more then one child and you break down the costs of having more then one in daycare.

Daycare for 1 just 1 can run you $1000 a month.

True but I guess I was thinking of all the cost associated with an Au Pair. You are paying for her to work, paying room and board, meal, car insurance in most cases, gas to drive your kids around, an extra ticket if you go on any vacations and take them with etc etc. I am sure it adds up to be quite expensive with those "hidden" fees. Not saying it would be more expensive than daycare but not such a huge savings when all costs are calculated in.

Hmmmmm didnt expect people to have such a big problem with me. i am not suppose to be online at work but i was so upset i had to post. How dare u people tell me that he is using me or not tru?????? Just cause we don't know each other long doesn't mean we are getting played. u people don't even know Winston or me so how do u think u even have a clue about us??????? i saw the p;oll in here about how people meet & a lot are like us. So what is the big deal?????? i really didnt expect people to be so mean. Not that i owe u people anything but just so u know it was me that talked about marriage and all that he just asked about our future. I did meet his whole family. He took me to his house a couple times. my sister came to & met everyone and everyone liked us so much. His mom and sister talked to me for so long and helped me learn to cook a dish. They were so welcoming and loved me from the first day. They are so excited Winston met a nice woman to be with. The mom talks to me on the phone and tells me how much she likes me and how great it will be to be a part of the family and she will help me with the wedding and everything. Offered to plan things and have me just send somr money to cover cost and she would arrange things for when i come back so i can enjoy the wedding. She has never seen Winston so in love so happy. She cant wait to see us get married. When i was there i really felt like i was one of them. Helped by grocery and clean house and laundry and everythings. I even stayed one night there but bc they didnt have electricity cause of a bill, Winston was really worried about me so i went back to the hotel and he stayed by my side the whole time. If he didnt love me i dont think he would have spent so much time with me and stayed w/ me so long.

As for some of u people that sent a message to my messenger thing saying i was fool and crazy and not living in reality that was not nice or friendly. I really didnt expect this from u people i thought i was going to be supported but i quess not

:(

I don't think any of us told you not to get married but to just slow it down. We aren't on here being mean to you but just being honest because some of us have been through this before. I for one have and in my case it wasn't the fairy tale ending. Am I sorry that I went down that path NO...I don't regret one choice I made.

I met and fell in love with my EX my first trip to Jamaica....talked on the phone NON-STOP for 6 months and then went back down and got married. We didn't have any problems at the embassy and he got approved and came up to the US. There were a lot of red flags that I saw in the 10 months waiting for the interview that I personally ignored. To this day I don't believe he USED me for a green card, what I do believe is we didn't know each other as well as we could have, got pregnant to quick and the adjustment to being in the states is a big one. So I have been through what you are considering and I think that if I would have taken it slower, the outcome of my situation could be different. Take what we say into consideration..don't get defensive because we really are trying to help you keep your eyes open.

Respect for saying it out loud to someone other then me. Didn't know if you ever would.

I'm saying it again....I'm sorry. Hugs girlie.

One of my sister's friends had several au pairs - they were in some program where they changed every 9 months or so (stay at home rich mom, lol) - Her girls were fluent in Spanish, German, French, and English by the time they were 5 - pretty cool benefit of the program.

 That would be a wonderful benefit!

Unless you don't know the languages and they are really cussing you!

How many husbands do you have, KK????????

JG..can u just see that now..one for u and one for me...dem sayin mek it seem like there is no world w/o dem..JAeyes..open dem eyes girl..and knock ur sis in her head too....

Mrslady.....u said u met ur SO in June of this yr? Do u feel like it's too soon are u now questioning ur intent ?

Mrslady..go check out ummmwhats her name..Texasbound's profile

Never that! I just was curious about how other people felt about knowing someone for a short time. Yes just June of this year........I am sure there are others on here that have had a shorter relationship, such as mine, and just don't fess up to it. Steve is a great man, I love him, he loves me, and we haven't filed yet. I am learning his ways and moods, just as he is mine. I ask questions of him and myself all the time. I have prayed on it for months. We have prayed on it together too......Here I am defending myself again.......I know where people are coming from I get it I do! My eyes are open and they are open WIDE  sister girl. I am not questioning anything about my feelings ever. I do sometimes get caught up in the talk about visa love and step back and re-evaluate what is happening. I have to, we all have to if we have met a man that we did not grow up knowing like have.

Ok..dis here one is fi JAeyes..

1st of all chica how old are you? if you don't mind me asking. What in the world would posses u to want to marry someone u know on vacation in 2 wks? does it strike u odd that u AND ur sister both found "love" in the same place? did u go looking for someone or did they find you? He is using you for a green card my girl..yes mi believe inna love at 1st sight but lets be real with ourselves...have u even been to JA before? yuh undastan wah mi a write seh? if not u have a serious problem. u need to proove ur relationship to the embassy..do u know if they have criminal histories...girl don't be fooled by the blue waters and di glass bottom boat..HE IS USING YOU !!

A dat mi seh too - nuff ppl come a Jamaica and are amazed by di blue wata, white sand, "exotic accents" an meet a man/woman and BAM! dem inna love but naah unnastan wat di JA man/woman chat inna dem ears

Yes mi believe inna love at first site but no one has to act on those feelings immediately. Tek time fi know your partner - no rush wid "true" love. If you fraid di man/woman aggo lef, then check your true feelings about the "relationship.

This board is a perfect example - out of the 300+ yardie/farrin relationships, less than 20% of the couples are still together. Take American/American weddings - the divorce rate after the first year is 50%, now add an overseas spouse to the equation, the numbers for divorce are even higher. Not standing in judgement of anyone's relationship but keep it real - if you wouldn't marry an American man/woman after two weeks why the hell you ready to marry a Jamaican after two weeks holiday? Pappyshow...

Mi naah come pon VJ fi make friend (friend mi naah beg) but mi know seh mi aggo be the #1 henemy soon from my posts  about this two week love affair

A so ie go...

I agree.

I've personally met lots of couples who did not make it. Or stay together miserable as hell. So many horror stories out there.

True, there are some successful stories..including mine. I used to say that Damien changed when he got here when in reality we didn't know each other. Things could have gone either way.

Jonesie - take the pole dance class. It will be so much fun. I take striptease once a month...good exercise.

It is actually a blessing in many ways that we have had to wait so long for our process to be completed. It has given me a lot of time to get to know him, his family, the culture. I think it helps a lot if you can stay for an extended amount of time. I stayed the whole summer two summers in a row and that has made a major difference in the commitment of our marriage.

I LOVE MY HUSBAND!!!!!!!!!!!
