Honey, if you haven't used a fireplace before, please make sure someone with experiences shows you how to do it and how to open the flue - In college, we had a house full of smoke and soot once - not fun to try to clean up!

We have a gas one and have no idea how to light the pilot

Manya -- u still at work?

Nope, I'm home. Had to catch the stupid subway home :crying:

Don't cry. Well, don't cry that much. I don't miss it one bit. I stopped ridding metro when I found out I was pregnant. I got sick on the train and they had to put the train out of service until the paramedics got there, I was so friggin embrassed, but people who I didn't know and never saw again were very kind.

LOL... Sus i looked up how to use a fireplace on the net this morning.. didnt quite find what i was looking for, but my landlord said she will give me and instructional lesson next week, when i get the keys.

i hope it helps keep the living area warm, cause im gonna plastic wrap us up all the windows, and doors and we arent gonna see sunlight till next summer if i have to keep a heat bill down. My one coworker, who is caucasian today said my heat bill isnt bad and i have 3 bedrooms, i keep my heat at 68!!! i said and you also wear sandals in the winter, which is why we quit carpooling cause i would be frozen solid by the time we reached work....LOL

i gave her my theory on being black, i told her since we originated closer to the equator we require HEAT, ( mind you this has not been scientically tested) but i like warm, and 68 isnt gonna cut it, guess im gonna have to invest in some long johns.

LOL - Get long handled matches - you turn the gas on and hold the match in front of the pilot. It's just like lighting a grill - just make sure you do it quickly after you turn the pilot on.

Okay, we'll try. I had to catch one of my neighbors outside to light our heater pilot. He didn't want to touch the fireplace. I'll get someone else.

Back in my broke college days, we lived in a broke down house with dirt cheap rent - our pilots were forever going out - on the heater, hot water, the stove = I was so afraid at first, then I became a pro at lighting it - Freezing your azz off makes you attempt all types of stuff!

Okay Ladies I'm out.

Manya -- Mi ago try the Oatmeal bath. Marcel is so doped up right now. He thinks it might be the honey coughdrops by HALLS. I don't know. He was in so much pain last night he started to cry. They just looked awful. Docs said they've never seen hives so bad.

LMAO - we used to stay warm - we never paid the bill during the winter moratorium - you would think we would wake up and realize it - Nope, every year come April it was a mad dash to pay before we got cut off -

That's okay. You are moving soon. We moved because we needed another bathroom...between my husband (thinks he's the sexiest Jamaican ever) and my daugther (America's Next Top Model)...I never got bathroom time.
