And ur not the only one that doesn't like to read patois some Jamaicans can't either u know why..it is not taught in schools it's not our language but rather English. So, i cannot say ur not embrassing the culture by u not reading patois.

OK. Thanks for clarifying.

Sorry, I wasn't back earlier to respond to the question about do I feel that some comments that have been made about the JA man, has been made in such a manner that it gave the impression, that he should tow the line because I brought you here.

What I find is that not everyone understand what it means for this Ja man to now be in the US and now he is now cosidered under the label of Africian American. Being a black man in this country is hard. Every movement and action of his is judged at a 200% level, where a white man is judged at 80% level.

I have always said when you are judging a black man, you are also judging a black woman, because that black man was birthed by a black woman.

I will allways judge a black man by the way he treats his mother, if he treats his mother like shyte, then in my book he will treat his woman the same way.

Well Kimmy...all I can say is that I will do everything that I can to ensure that my husband's culture is preserved in our home. While I don't really chat patois all that well, I can understand 80% of it (up from 65% a couple of years ago! ) And it will be a MUST that he speak to our children in patois to encourage them that they learn as well. I also plan to teach (and have my husband do so as well) the history and culture of the island...all about holidays, festivals, food, music, folklore, whatver....I want them to know. It's a given that our children's American culture will be learned, so that I am not worried about. I just think it's a matter of respect for all the women and men up here...Respect one another's differences and what each one can offer.

Oh, crude, I'm going to start crying now. End of Titanic and Rose just figured out Jack is dead. I have a love/hate relationship with this movie.

We were watching that too JG! I cry each and every time I watch it. Another show that makes me bawl in Extreme Home Makeover Edition. I love watching the new houses, but I bawl like a baby when they move that bus!

Hee hee....you big baby!

Same here, Island. Same here.

LOL - thank goodness. I have to put my kids to bed early on Sunday nights, otherwise they think someone died for sure when that show is done with me.

Island don't fell bad he!! I thought me and my girlfriend were going to have to fight two women in Jamaica and we are black. Girl I had taken off my shoes and earrings and was asking for some Vaseline( just in case someone don't no about the vaseline it't to keep your face from being scatched-up am I a hoodlum or what) But I understood their rudeness I would probably be rude to because some people just come to Jamaica to get there freak on. I actually came to me another man I had been talking to for 2 years and met and fell in love with my Husband. They are losing so many men to so many different people, some are just angry. And then again some could careless and are happy.

Like for instance the other day could've been 2 years ago...

Kashi and I had this issue when he 1st came it has gotten much much better

OMG! Why does Belly say this all the time in conversation..."T, remember what I said to you the other day?" I'm always like "depends on what day you're talking about..." He's usually referencing a conversation from months ago! And he never gives me hints, just expects me to pick from a random conversation months ago  I honestly thought it was just him...

I'm glad to hear it! It actually caused it bit of an argument for us the first time. He told me he did something "the other day" and I was like, you told me you did that months ago - #######!!!

And I also learned that the "foot" could be anywhere from the hip bone down to the toenail on the big toe.

Thankfully I can say that I have not experienced a situation THIS extreme. I will admit that I have gotten looks from women on occasion, but I honestly feel like it's because I just look like I'm from farrin! My husband says if you get close enough to me I smell different (I believe its my detergent ) But seriously, it could very well be that they feel like "we" are taking their men. Or it could be that they are just jealous when they see the two of us walking hand in hand, him being playful and affectionate, and very attentive to me. They could just be haters because they don't have this in their own relationship. I don't know..just speculating. For the most part though, everyone in his community, and Jamaica as a whole, have been very receptive.

OH, and how about "my stomach hurts". Well of course I was like, "do you have to use the bathroom? Did you eat something bad?" He was like "what are you talking about? Noooo T, my stomach hurts, I can breathe." I'm like "what?" He's like you know, where your lungs are! Im like "that's your CHEST---NOT YOUR STOMACH!! One IS NOT connected to the other!" I tell you, the things I've learned...
