Hey Ladies:

How is everyone doing? I haven't been on much lately. Any ways, I am suddenly finding myself a Barack groupie and want me and my SO (hopefully husband by then) to go the inaugration ceremony in January. I am looking at hotels and this is becoming a lost cause because there all booked up or you have to be a millionaire to stay at one. Well I know that some of you VJers are in that area and was wondering if you know of any reasonably priced, somewhat close to the Mall hotels? it doesn't have to be glamorious because we plan on being out and about most of our stay. Or I was thinking of maybe staying with someone on here who is going to the festivites, but honestly I don't really know any of you in that area. Okay well I know someone has some suggestions or ideas. So if you know of a hotel or if you want to have a slumber party let me know. PLEASE PM THOUGH. Okay

If you're looking for a hotel in DC you're going to pay an arm and a leg. Even if it's a RATS hole. Try to stay in Maryland or Virgnia (Arlington or Alexandria) somewhere near the metro. I think Expedia or one of them have a link on their sites of places to look at. The only places I know are all expensive since I'm only familar with them because of work.

Shanette, start looking a hotels and flights now. People started bookings before election day because they want to be in D.C. area for the celebrations. I'm glad we get inaguration day off and presidents day so a 4 day weekend. My friend is trying to get us ticket for the speech, but correct me if I'm wrong (where is SJB) I think someone in Congress has to invite you or give them to you I can't remember. I went to Clintons speeches and I think someone gave us the tickets.

Is that a good club Sus?

I like it for a show - it's a good spot to see someone - I went once on a DJ night and wasn't thrilled - they played alot of Chutney -

For Machel though - I will put up with anything!

Subject: Inauguration

Since I am receiving so many inquiries about Inaugural activities/tickets, I am sending out this information to help those of you who are interested in attending any of the events.

Inauguration Ceremony - Will be held at the Capitol on Tuesday, January 20 at noon. Free tickets are distributed by members of Congress. Please contact your Congress member immediately. If he or she is a Republican, your odds may be better at obtaining a ticket. There will be a high demand this year. Most tickets will only get you on to the grounds with no seat and no reserved space. You will need to arrive early and stand for a long period of time.

Parade - Is free, but you will need to arrive early to claim a viewing spot. The grand stand seats are reserved and you will need a ticket to sit. Tickets are usually distributed to big contributors and party insiders. Don't know what the method will be this year.

Hotel room along the route probably are all sold. If you work in an office building along the route, find out if the space with the view has been sold and if everybody from the company is invited.

If connected with the DC Mayor, he has one of the best viewing stands, but if he invites all the city council members and guest, he may have little other room.

Inaugural Balls - Tickets are usually controlled by state political parties and the Pres. Inaugural Comm (PIC). The PIC should be operating next week. The tickets are usually sold, but you have to be invited to purchase one. You can volunteer to serve as a host through the PIC.

Hotels - The DC hotels are pretty full. They are expensive (about $700/night with 4 night minimum). You may be able to get a room in Virginia or Maryland for $500 or less. You need to try to stay near a Metro stop because auto traffic into the city will be limited.

Other Activities - Once the PIC is functioning, they will announce all the official activities. There will be many unofficial activities also.

Feel free to share this with friends and family.

Lita weh yuh exiting topic go? wah cause it no involve bowing and toys and dem ting deh

LOL - Religion and Gay subjects are ones I tend to stay away from - because I have my own beliefs, and believe that everyone is entitled to theirs - I don't mind sharing it, but I get really agitated when the subject of how homosexuality is wrong and God is brought into it - Because that is not my God that I believe in.

ShaNette,

Try the Days Inn on Connecticut Ave NW - Not sure how close to the mall it is, but it was the cheapest I found - Not fancy, but clean and comfy - it was about a 15 min ride for us to Georgetown from there.

What's going on with your visa?

I am Christian too - See that's what I mean about the different beliefs - My church is Protestant - We went through a HUGE thing a few years ago about being an open and affirming church.

Here is a quote from the home page:

We are an open and affirming church and welcome anyone who wishes to worship and fellowship with us.

I have a zillion gay friends - I used to work in a gay bar when I was in college.

Shanette try using zipcode 20603, you will need a car to travel to and from the Hotel. Also, to get around in DC , you will be using the subway, so don't try looking for Hotels in Washington, DC.

I could give you some recommendations, but I don't want to get into the same shouting match that I found myself in when I tried to share information about this area at another time.

Could you be any more ridiculous? You asked where I was staying, I said where I was thinking of, when you said the distance, I told you that 2 or 3 sites told me it was close - You need to get over yourself - Unreal, childish ish................ Unbelievable.
