Here is another one I received::---

They did not want to give up 40 acres and a mule so dog gone it, we'll take 50 states and a White house.

I met a black person who voted for Senator McCain. We are currently in the emergency room. The doctors are trying to removed my foot from his #######..

That makes you just as bad as the rest of the fools, Claire. McCain had some good ideas. Just not enough. And, too bad for him Bush ruined all Republicans for me at this point.

????? not sure how to take this, though it wasnt directed at me. kinda harsh, maybe???

I just heard on the news that in one place here some people had to wait like 7 hours to vote. :o:o

Where was that, Dillon?

I went right around 12:30 yesterday. In and out. It was awesome. Glad I didn't stand in that line for 3 hours in the early morning.

honestly yaads i dont remember, i get it every time i go to texas and i was just craving it, it has cilantro and lime juice and cod fish and i cant remember what else but its really really good. I went over to the mexican forum but one lady said she wasnt certain. If i could travel elsewhere but jamaica with my few dollars maybe i could get back to texas...lol

Seems almost every hispanic/mexican cod stew recipe I saw had all those ingredients  Good luck trying to figure it out

Wow that is crazy. I wonder what they will do if people are still in line when the polls are technically suppose to close?

We closed at 7 pm. If you were IN line at 7, you were allowed to vote no matter how long it took to get through it.

Wow what a wait. What states are u gals in?

I went at 7am and was in and out. No line no waiting. But my state is a slam dunk.

Missouri

Jg..i would think that the ppl wanting to file CR1 should discuss if they are gonna be apart for 2yrs so then they will get their 10yr..it's also cheaper in the end ?

wow..13 of us..and no duppies or guest..for the 1st time in a long time

So what y'all are saying about the CR1/IR1 thing is that you should marry but then wait for 2 years so that you get the IR1...it would be cheaper in the long run cause you would show up with your 10 year green card. Geesh what a stress to have to remove conditions on your CR1.

maybe they can make the decision on if their SO is willing or ready to come in 2yrs or more..

Yeah; but who knew it was going the take the Yardies as long as it has taken recent one's to make it through?

exactly!!!

Shrewdie, I think it's an important topic and every input is crucial - It's funny, I became brownin in JA too - although on the phone, if someone else answers it, I am Yankee, lol

I hadn't fully posted my story - but since I am working from home I have time today, lol!

It was interesting to me to read Morant Bay's post on this, because I grew up just like she did, only in a white family - When I was young, there were not many black (or any other ethnic, for that matter) families in my area - I had two black girls who lived on my street, but they had been adopted by a white lesbian couple (the lesbian part I never grasped until high school, lol - it was her Mom and Aunt! - yes, I was naive!). There was one other black boy in my grammar school - he was different, and I didn't like him - but not bc of his color, but bc he used to call me honky and make fun of me - not that I understood what the word meant! All the way growing up, this was pretty much the demographic of my environment. I was ignorant to different cultures - didn't get it, wasn't exposed to it - it wasn't until I was 19 that I worked at an afterschool - one of my co-workers was black, and we got to be good friends - started hanging out with him and his friends, learned more, opened my horizon, realized that there was no difference whatsoever. Now, my friends represent the UN - black, Indian, South African, Spanish, Irish, English, Scottish,.......

As for my family= No one really ever went there with IR dating when I was younger - I have a distant cousin, same age as me, who has 6 kids by 6 different BM - she did drugs, was in jail, etc.... lots of issues - but I always thought everyone looked down on her for the multi baby daddies and drugs - never realized it was the IR stuff. I never realized that my family had an issue with IR dating until I told them I was dating a BM - and my father told me to get the f**** out of his house - We didn't speak for 2 years, I quit school and started working FT - I was living my life how I wanted - My argument to them has always been that they never raised me to see color - I couldn't be who I am if they had - done the type of work I have done, have the friends I have, etc.... My Mom told me she knows I love that type of music - but she likes country and never wanted to marry a cowboy!

It's really hard to explain - Now, I can better understand where my Dad is coming from - with him being sick, we talked a lot more before he died, and I learned more a bout stuff he saw growing up, and where his fear or prejudice came from. I also came to the realization that my happiness has to come first - and that if my family loves me unconditionally, they will accept whoever makes me happy - My family isn't thrilled about it, there are some awkward moments, but I have faith that they will come around.

Through my life though, I also learned that prejudice is ignorance and fear - and people need to be educated in life - if I hear or see something, I will speak up about it, no matter who you are - if more people open up and try to show other people that people are people, regardless of race, religion, sexuality, disability, ..... maybe we can work on the prejudices that still exist.

Interesting, Sus. (And about damn time you posted it!) Maybe that is why I never see a difference. I have grown up in diverse circumstances all my life. My friends...my neighbors....my schoolmates...my boyfriends. My cousin was engaged to marry a Jamaican man in the 70's. He passed away (so they think) so it never happened. But, I suppose she set the stage for me.

I just never register anyone is different.

Have a glorious day at work everyone! I am still elated about last night.

Me too  Wonder if Condi Rice needs help packing :innocent:

You didn't see the students with the moving boxes and tape...I fell out laughing this morning.

Yeah, I just her saw personal assistant in the cafe and she stated Condi started packing last week  . Either way, she had to go. All of the Republican political appointees are also getting the boot. Our workload will double the next months but it's okay

So how do you deal with attempting to respect them when they are playing those games?

I don't think you can respect them. If they are playing games and carrying on with foolishness there is no way to respect them. That really is a tough one.

My coworker just walked in and is talking about the election, mind you she is caucasian, she just said OMG we are gonna have a black president...

ANyhoo, later for her, im trying hard to ignore her... ( gritting teeth) someone just sent me an email that i thought was funny as hell, hope it doesnt offend.

"there is a sign up sheet for who can help Bush pack his shyt and get the phock out of the White House, Nov 5th. I signed us up for the 11-7 shift. His azz gotta go tonite!!!".

LMAO.. i thought this was so dang funny

I work for a VERY conservative company and it is so quiet around her today...no one is saying anything. A lot of good 'ole boys around here. LOL One girl kind of rolled her eyes at me when I walked by her this morning...not going to jump to conclusions but she is probably beside herself right now.

You know when Barak turns this country around all these haters are going to jump on his bandwagon.

See, this is my issue. You want to respect them cause they are family. But, then they play way too many games and you start to resent it. Which means not only do you not respect them anymore; but you don't even care most times. It's a really sick and sad cycle.
