I too have been wondering how to have my 2005 tax return notarized, as there is no space left at the bottom of the Form 1040EZ. So, made a separate sheet stating:

I swear (affirm) that the Forms 1040EZ and the W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for year 2005 are photocopies of the originals, and that the statements included therein are true and correct.

Signature of Taxpayer:__________________________

Subscribed and sworn (affirmed) before me this ________ day of __________ at____________

My commission expires on ____________________________

Signature of Officer Administering Oath:________ Title__________

Then I attached the photocopies of 1040 & W2, and had the sheet notarized.

I don't think tax returns need to be notarized (although I'm sure it doesn't hurt) - I just sent photocopies of mine with no extra notations. What does need to be notarized is the Affidavit of Support form (which has a space for the notary stamp at the bottom).

This thread looks really useful for everyone going through the Manila embassy :)

the only notarized copy i brought to my interview is the affidavit of support. didnt have any problems

i just gave them a folder with this cover letter:

nlbig6.jpg

other documents asked from me were birth certificate and nbi clearance. Nothing else. I was sooo prepared with all the bank statements, phone records, and all other documents neatly filed into folders but they didnt even look at them.

Oh the officer asked to look at our photos too. So i gave the officer the photoalbum i made, with titles and captions lol. Didnt ask me anything except when did we go to hong kong. He laughed when i said we went on the opening week

The questions asked to me were just basics: where did we meet, when he was last here, do i plan to practice as a vet when i get there, and probably one or 2 more questions. And that was it. He joyfully congratulated me, chatted a little bit and instructed me to go to this window where i they scanned for fingerprints.

Good luck and God bless to the rest of the interviewees.

oh yeah, dont forget to fill up the forms needed and paste your pictures before going there. it will save u so much time.

ALL

You do NOT need to notarize the tax returns. The I-134 is the only document that must be notarized, PERIOD!

Mac

Police clearance are not available from the US, therefore not needed for the interview.

Marilyn and Peter.

K-1 Timeline in Profile (our story)

Church wedding Sept 18

NOA1's for AOS/EAD received Sept 20 MSC #

Biometrics completed Nov 5 2004

EAD Approval Dec 29 2004

AOS appointment letter received Feb 3 2005

AOS interview scheduled for March 9 2005

AOS interview mostly fine, just need I-693 supplement filled out by civil surgeon

Spend another $40 for I-693 form, sent to local USCIS office registered mail, arrived March 11 2005

AOS finally approved March 25th 2005

Green card arrives about 10 days later

!!Green card has incorrect middle name!! Thanks USCIS

Travel back to Denver, turn in card and I-90 to correct their mistake.

Application accepted, asked for I-551 stamp, they told me "We don't do stamps anymore"

NOA1 for I-90 received from NSC April 18 2005, fee waived

NSC appears to have stoped processing I-90's

Marilyn needs to travel back to the RP, call Senators office for help with green card or I-551 stamp

Travel back to Denver July 1, 2005 and received I-551 stamp in the passport.

Hey, I may be beautiful but I'm not perfect :energetic: :content: Just trying to make you smile people!

Most Filipina's are

Awww.... <blushing> :blush::blush:

I'm thinking that a notarized tax return would only be required if that was the only document that the beneficiary can present to the embassy to prove petitioner's financial capability. But if there are other support documents like employment letter, pay stubs, bank statement, and other proof of assets, then a non-notarized one would suffice, I guess. But that is just my opinion. As others here have said, their tax returns were not notarized but I'm sure they had other financial documents.

Rebelheart, if it's 3 weeks before your interview and you have not received your packet, call the embassy and request them to have one sent to St. Lukes. You can pick it up there and have your medical at the same time. Don't have another one sent to your new address. Read the "Manila Interview" thread for more info in getting a medical without the packet.

Thanks for the interview info JoyTim. Have a happy reunion with your sweetie on Valentine's day.

Have a nice weekend everyone! :P

tax documents are not notarized as per the actual affidavit instructions. I did not have to have my tax documents/transcripts notarized. as a matter of fact... my I-134 was not collected by the person at the embassy (my wife still has the document and all). they did take my UNnotarized tax documents and W2s. if you get tax transcipts, then you will not need "notarization" since it comes from IRS.

good luck and follow instructions on actual AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT.

Hey Jasman, it seems like you are just the right person to ask this question since a- you were divorced, and b- from California. :)

You said you sent in a notorized copy of your divorce. Was this requested by the embassy, or did you just do it on your own hook? Reason I'm asking is that my divorce was handled through Ventura, and I was in TX when the judgement was entered. All I've ever received was the Notice of Entry of Judgement, no signature, but a couple original stamps in the date field saying we can't get married before such and such a date, and that it was filed by so-and-so on this date; along with that was a signed copy (but a copy nonetheless) of the Judgement, covered in original stamps saying it was filed by so-and-so on such a date.

I never even thought about requesting a notarized copy of this until seeing your posting about getting one yourself, since I had the originals that the court sent me 8 years ago (and which I sent along to Lye for verification). Logically, it should be good enough since it was what the court sent me, and I've also got three years of tax returns filing Single, and information about child support, but... <shrug>
