Hi Guys!

I know that as you get the visa in your hand, you want to fly immediately to be with your love. But then, in some occasion, you have to settle things before leaving. How long can a beneficiary stay in his/her country before going to US after he/she get visa? What if you can't book immediately for plane tickets?

Thanks for sharing your ideas. :luv::luv::luv:

As stated in a previous post - when issued (the K1) the beneficiary has (6) six months to enter the US. Once in the US he/she will get an I-94 which is valid for 90 days (so he/she will have 90 days to marry the intended US citizen).

The I-94 is what Stevent (above) is referring to, not the actual K1 visa.

I was originally under the impression it was always 3 months, and then I saw posts from people who said it was good 6 months. I think it depends on the country, probably anyone in a visa waiver country gets a 6 month visa, those not... 3 months. So philippines get's 3 months, the uk 6, etc. This VW bit is just a guess on my part, don't take it as gospel.

It's probably like many other visas... the max is 6 months but the consulate can issue anything it likes UP TO but not LONGER than that.

In the Rio Consulate, Brazil, they issued me a K-1 visa valid for 6 months. I go with the others who say that it may vary from country to country.

Check with your consulate. When you receive a visa there is also a letter explaining all these details.

Good luck!
