Need INFO on Australian Police Certificate

Hi Everyone,

I am Indonesian and am new here and I need information on Police Certificate.

I was in Sydney for a 3 years study in a college. One of K1 requirements on the interview is Police Certificate from places lived since age 16.

I got info that the AFP is the official bureau which can issue that Police Certificate for me. Is that correct?

My other question is: is the Pol Cert has a validity or expiration period?

I-129F sent on Oct7 and just got NOA1 for this moment, but I wanted to start gathering all available docs/paper as early as possible OR just to know everything willbe available once its needed.

But I have read that beneficiary can start gathering the docs needed for interview when we get NOA2.

So I wqant to know if I get the POl Cert from AFP this soon, will it be still valid by the time I get the NOA2 ? (Estimated timeline for NOA2 is around February 2009)

Please anyone who know the answer to this question or ever been to this situation, give your input and advice.

typically for consulate purposes, the PC is valid for up to one year though it can vary ... check with your consulate for the specific answer.

As payxibka said, generally the police certificate is valid for a year but the US consulate in your country will be able to give you a correct answer. Also, you may like to find out from them if fingerprints is required too.

I recently had to apply for a police certificate from Australia and the US embassy here in NZ told me that they also required fingerprints as well as filling out the AFP forms. So I had to get them done here and sent them off with the forms and correct fees.

Tried to call US Embassy in Jakarta..never get a hold. Very frustrating. So I dont know yet if they required fingerprints or not. Do you happen to know if the Pol Cert has a validity or expeiration? I wanted to know if this Cert will still valid by the time I get to interview. The estimate adjudication date is approx. in Feb-March 2009.

I emailed the consulate here in NZ and they replied very swiftly. Maybe you could try and email the Jakarta embassy at jakiv@state.gov

The certificates usually expire after a year. Even if the jakarta embassy only allows them to be valid for 6 months, it still gives you plenty of time. I notice on their website that they require fingerprints when people apply for visas at the embassy, so it may be possible that they may require them for police checks that are needed from overseas aswell.

It may take several weeks for the AFP to process your police check application form, so you may like to start on it soon and then not have to worry about it when the time comes for the interview

Hopefully, the Jakarta embassy will be able to answer all your questions via email.

that looks like me everytime i check uscis for a 'touch' and find out there isnt one LOL!!!

Cham does your fiance need a police check from overseas?

If it is just for a domestic police check for him in Australia, then i would think any fingerprints would be conducted at the interview.

In NZ the embassy does the domestic police check for you, but not sure about Australia. You could try emailing them at AMVISA@state.gov

They would be able to clarify everything for you

Will try to call them again tomorrow cuz they are closed by now. Hope to get the answer. Yes I need to be sure if I need fingerprint from Australia Pol as well. The AFP said the process takes about 15 working days. I wanted to have all required docs done as early and not to worry later.

To get your timeline on the end of your posts. click onto My Controls ( towards top of page when you are signed in). Then under personal profile column (left side of the page) click onto edit signature. Type in your timeline there and then click onto update my signature. That should work.

Finally, after several attempts calling the Embassy in Jakarta I tried the email and I got the answer. The Embassy does not required fingerprints and they told me that the Pol Cert is valid for one year.

My advise is if you have any question or need some info from the Embassy in Jakarta please send them email instead of calling them on the phone.

I am starting to get my Pol cert from Australia now. Hope everything goes smoothly.

That's good news that you found out about the requirements needed at your embassy for police certificate.It seems that email is the best way to go when contacting embassies. My Australian police certificate arrived in the mail today (here in NZ) It took 20 days to arrive (from the time i mailed it to them)

It took 20 days for you to get the Pol Cert from AFP so 15 working days to get the Cert done (on time) plus to delivered it to your address = 20days. Thats pretty good. I hope mine would not be much longer than yours considering I am in Indonesia.

I made a bankdraft of AUD43.00 (with no fingerprints), cuz the US Embassy in Jakarta told me they dont need the fingerprint.

yes they send it to you in their own envelope. So no need to send a return address envelope All you need to send is the required amount that they state on their website (bank draft) which you have done.

yes they send it to you in their own envelope. So no need to send a return address envelope All you need to send is the required amount that they state on their website (bank draft) which you have done.
