Wow...you are VERY fortunate...but having a lovely wife and a baby on the way...you already knew that.

PLEASE listen to your wife and get yourself checked out. She'll feel better :)

Hmmm, if you had your seatbelt on, maybe you wouldn't be trying to pick stuff from the floor while driving :)

Good luck with your POE and the rest of your lives together.

I am wondering if maybe I should hire a attny and sue the state of Idaho for poor road maintence. After all this dirt road was washboarded out. The locals I talked to say it is normally graded twice a year but it hasnt been done since last year. They also say that its rougher then they have seen it in years with more traffic coming up to go camping and such. If it wasnt for the rough road the stuff that was on my seat would of bounced off and I wouldnt have had to pick it up.

On a side note, I really hate people sometimes. After i rolled and climbed up to the road, a truck went by and the man and woman looked at me but just kept going, My head was bloody from the cuts so it was obvious I was in need of help. Some people.

Can you beleive the sheriff gave me a ticket for inatentive driving? My god, doesnt he think I have been punished enough wrecking my van which I support my family with? Let alone the bills that will start coming in from the tow company, emt's ambulance and fire department? Holy #### this whole deal will end up costing me 20 to 30 grand by the time its all over. Give me a break. It sure makes me wonder why I just dont go to another country and renouce my citizenship. This country is just so un just. They punish hard working people that are paying their taxes, doing right by society and yet we have people on welfare living in the projects driving brand new Esculades and or preachers living in $400,000 houses wearing Rolex watches...all paid for by the church.

I am sorry if I am ranting here, I'm trying to sleep but everytime I close my eyes I'm having flashbacks of the accident and I'm full of anger.

Yes, I am fortunate to have a lovly wife who is supportive and caring but god she doesnt deserve this mess she is walking into. What a way to start our lifes together....20 to 30k in debt....

You've got insurance, right? Probably difficult to sue for the road. They'll argue that it was an avoidable collision.

To that matter, most police refer to traffic incidents as "collisions" rather than accidents. in that "accident" implies that it could not have been avoidable.

Speaking of religion, I hear those preachers prefer Breitling watches over Rolex these days.

Also speaking of religion (and I'm not religious per say) you have given me the opportunity to utilize one of my favorite quotes

about how people think of religion. That is, "Some people use religion as a steering wheel, while others use it as a spare tire".

If you use God (really the principles of living a good life) as your steering wheel, you'll stay on the right path, but some people

don't find religion until they're stuck on the side of a road.

Earlier in your post you were considering thanking God for saving you. :)

Bottom line, if your wife decides to practice medicine in the US, after a while you could be laughing at debt.

For today, just be thankful that you survived. Better to be in a little pain and debt, than 6 ft under.

Try to get some rest, and think about how fortunate you are to have tomorrow waiting for you.

You managed to escape a rollover van, and survived then managed to come to VJ immediately after to post this news makes it seem like, "okay.....guys, my truck rolled over today....but, what's up in VJ?" Like a common occurance. But, hey, you survived which is a good thing.

 are you serious? I'm really glad that you were not injured seriously or that no other vehicle was involved in the accident. I think if you search the laws in different states it does happen in other places.. You get fined/charged with reckless driving in our state if you are involved in a single vehicle accident automatically, a friend of mine had to do community service work for ditching his suv. It's indeed an inconvenience and a minor frustration but talking about leaving the country and renouncing your citizenship over this? wow..... if you had to have been cut out of the van, flown via medivac and were in a hospital room hooked up to machines your perspective might be a different one.

Lucky to be alive? I was driving up a mountain road today at 11:30 this afternoon and I got to close to the edge after reaching for something on the floor and the soft dirt sucked me over the side. Dont know how many times I rolled but I walked away with only cuts to my head. Its now 6:30pm and I'm starting to feel the through out my body...mostly my neck. I ended up upside down in a creek, head first.

What do you guys think...do you think god had a part in this or is it just blind luck? I personally dont have any faith...beleif in a higher power but this starts to make me wonder.

I did not read the thread...just your post.

Some alternate ways of thinking/believing

You might be greatly interested in this:

Two parts (audio) about a woman who "believed in nothing" and then had a near death experience; her young son practically died, too, and was "saved".

They are long and so it would take some commitment on your part to listen to the whole thing.

Her car had leaped over a railing and into an icy lake. It's quite interesting.

Also this one is...one of my favourite.

Jill Bolte Taylor is a brain scientist and her quest to understand the brain, and has her own medical emergency and "sees the Light":

that we are all connected and we all get to choose.

 I second that. Of course you should get a ticket. If I'm texting someone on my cell phone (which I'd never do in the first place) while driving, and I swerve and hit a poll, you better believe I'm getting a ticket AND paying to replace the poll.

Just be happy you are not seriously hurt, and the rest should not be a big deal. Also be happy that if you WERE seriously injured, we have amazing medical technology and people here in America to help us. Honestly, you should be ashamed of your little rant. Stop whining and pay up.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
