What is required at the interview?

Hi all.

My hubby is scheduled for his interview on thursday and I'm wondering what he needs to bring with him.

I already sent the originals to the marriage, his birth certificate and his police certificate to NVC and they sent it DHL express to the embassy in Dakar. Soooo, since THEY have the originals to everything, what exactly would he need to bring with him?

Also, my case was an expedite all the way through, so when would he possibly get his visa to travel here?

Thanks for any info.

FYI: if I have to give anything to my husband, i would have to scan everything and email it to him. (due to the interview being so fast). Would they possibly accept the scanned and printed version of whatever they might need?

You should have received a list of everything needed along with your interview notice.

I don't know how this works with an expedited case...most of us aren't in your position...and I'm sure we wouldn't envy whatever the case is.

Glad for you that you were able to get the expedite.

Usually originals or certified copies are required. I doubt that a scanned document would be sufficient if anything is missing.

Check the guides and Wiki to make sure your spouse has everything in hand that they need, or that it's already been sent to NVC or the consulate.

Your spouse will absolutely need to bring their medical report, passport, and a good attitude.

everything has already been sent to NVC. NVC sent everything to embassy by DHL.

I just keep seeing on other forums where it says the spouse must bring original documents. I don't get why the spouse must give the consular the exact same items that NVC already sent in the packet by DHL.

Any idea's?

If you sent original documents to NVC, your spouse does NOT have to bring them to the interview.

If you sent COPIES, they MAY have to bring the originals.

NVC should have let you know by now...or you can call them to confirm what they are missing (if anything).

Ling is right, if any of the documents you sent were copies, then the originals would have to be presented at the interview, we chose to send the originals like you...when we recieved our appointment letter, (4-5 pages), on the last page (i think) listed documents needed for the interview with letter codes on the side on each item...refer to that list and read the correstponding letter code...in our case, NVC acknowledged recieving the original documents and that they meet the "post" requirements...you will also see documents listed that will not pertain to your particular case that will have a letter code indicating that the document isn't needed....good luck

If I have read everything correct.

He would have to bring his medical, 2 passport photos, passport, any docs that they wanted him to fill out.

He should also bring with him all the evidence that your marriage is still valid.

Phone records, emails,letters, joint bank account statements, evidence of trips you made to see him, pictures (wedding and others)

I hear they sometimes don't ask for it, but you want him as armed and ready as possible.

Make sure he knows when your b-day is and other possible questions about you. I would view the interview forums. They are really helpfull.
