Metta... you aren't going to vote for Obama... we got it. And you know what? It doesn't really matter to anyone here if you don't. I'd reckon a vast majority of people have already made up their minds, and in some cases have already voted, so what to you hope to achieve by these posts? Just sh#t stirring, bored, what is it? In some ways I have a feeling that you'd relish in seeing Obama screw up royally as president, even at the expense of the American public, just so you could say ner ner ner, I told you so. Well here is the newsflash, your girl lost and should you choose to vote for McCain, you will be voting much further away from the ideals she stood for. But that's your choice. Why not tell us all of the great things about your candidate of choice now, be it McCain or one of the others...?

You read my mind, Sister Fracas!

and mine....

I hear so much bashing of Obama but hardly anything on how McCain or anyone else will be a better choice for president

Oh, Sister Fracas, I know you feel very nice and comfortable inside the 'hail, Obama" echo chamber that VJ OT has largely become.

In side that echo chamber, like-minds huddle together in "groupthink" cherishing one another's idea. That's an enviable situation if only the world were made up of like minds.

But, there are others who don't subscribe to your views. So I guess jarring voices of the outside world do make their rude intrusion from time to time.

Unless you manage to declare VJ "Obama Only" zone, I'm afarid you will have to put up with that reality.

You call it "#### stirring".

I call it the market place of ideas :D

So then, tell us something good about your candidate.....*still waiting*

You could influence someone if you just said who is worthy of your vote and why.

Oh and BTW, your rudeness was not necessary as I'm not being offensive.

No Sister fracas, you were not offensive neither was I rude unless disagreeing with one's idea is considered rudeness.

In fact I like you SF. I like you a lot . So, no reason for me to rile you up.

I have voted for McCain already. But I voted a split ticket. For president I voted for McCain but for the rest I voted strictly democratic.

Why?

I believe McCain is very strong in the following areas;

1. he is a decent man of honor, strong sense of duty and abiding love of his country. For that reason,I believe that when presented with concrete facts he will embrace policies that he may not previously favor. Conversely, as he has proven time and time again, he will oppose policies of his own party once he is convinced that they are not in the interest of the nation. Served his country honorably by even overcoming the lure of early release from captivity in POW camp. Shows character. He has a solid track record of 'decisive actions taken" instead of just "prevaricating" (read voting present) on tough issues: immigration, torture, campaign reform, normalization with Vietnam etc.

2. Experience. Especially well-versed in foreign policy which means he 'knows of" not only issues but the nuances and subtleties of policy.

3. Earlier in the campaign, when it became evident that it was going to be between Obama and McCain, I voiced my opinion on this board that given recent history of Bush with majorities in both houses , I have come to believe in "divided power" if dangerous "extremes" are to be avoided.

As for voting straight "democrat' for other elected positions, agian, I look at the track record. North Carolina has fared very well under democratic "governors'. Historically, successive NC government at state level have been very visionary amd forward thinking. Reasearch Triangle was envisioned long ago to diversify the economy. So, even now when tobacco, textile and furniture industries have waned in recent years, new biotech and biopharm industries are being developed. Thus NC's economy has been ahead of many other states.

I could elaborate but that's it in a nutshell :D

There, was that so hard?

Nothing wrong with your reasoning at all and nothing wrong with your choice. So, why the need to bludgeon people who have a different set of answers to these questions? Why the need to call them names? I find that strange in the extreme.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Only a few more days to go and we don't need to see any more of it, yay! Well for a while.

Our lives will go on more or less how they have done for the past year or so whoever gets in. No one really has the courage to address the things that people actually want to change. The system is too heavy, too set, too geared in one direction. That is not necessarily a bad thing, although if something doesn't change about the way health care is delivered I think there will be problems in the future.
