We got married on September 7th 2007 after dating for 5 years and sent in the paperwork for I-130 in October 2007. Vermont Service Center acknowledged receipt January 15th 2008. Our application was transferred to the California Service Center in August 2008, 26th I believe. To this day, still no answer. We are held in total darkness.

The processing dates for the California Service Center are now within 6 months according to their website. We are way behind in the process, way outside processing dates. I (Julie) am getting very discouraged, I can`t stand not knowing if I`m coming or going anymore. As far as I can read in the forums, people who filed after us are already approved and moving along. Anyone else in the same boat as we are? Any idea on what can cause such a delay?

Did you file any service requests with the USCIS service center or write a letter to your congressman?

You should have been processed with me -- it sounds like we have similar timelines -- *** but I can't be sure because you didn't fill oune out so please fill out your timeline! *** .

When you've called California, what have they said? You are outside of the timelines so they should put you on the fast track and get you an answer within 30 days.

Is there anything interesting about your case? Previous marriages? Children? Military service? Work-related issues?

Get ahold of your local congressman and explain everything to them. Explain how the process is supposed to work. Provide them with references to whatever supports your case (like the Vermont and California processing dates). Ask them to please look into whatever is preventing your case from being adjudicated. You are well behind the rest of us who were transfered at the same time.

If you like, grab my timeline and use it as supporting evidence that something is wrong. You should have been through NVC by now.

I'm really sorry that you're in this situation. :-(

Thanks for your quick replies.

Mrs Z., I filled out my timeline...not that there is much to fill out, I`m still at the first stage after over a year. My husband did contact USCIS over 30 days ago and they opened a request but still no answer from them. He called 3 times last week and didn`t manage to talk to anyone helpful. All they say is to wait. I feel we are stuck in a rutt and this is never going to happen. I will mention to my husband about contacting his congressman.

I guess if the 90 day after being transferred thing is the standard....we should hear something in november.

It`s not like I have a bad life here in Canada, it`s actually pretty good. But, I did not get married to the one I love to keep being away from him. Between being able to get vacation time and high air travel prices, we really don`t see much of eachother. Talking on the phone is one thing, but we need more... I think we`ve been patient enough.

Wow. I thought I was the only one at VJ who has been transferred and not approved yet. I was also transferred on 26th had million touched but no approval. Tried calling them but no success. They keep telling us to wait more. Although once they said there was correspondence on Oct 16 but we have not received anything in mail, so I guess they just dont know what they were talking about. I will wait few more weeks but then will have to contact congressman again.

Since we got similar timeline, if you don't mine please let me know if you get any news on your case.

Good luck

Can you please let me know where you read this rule? We'd like to know since I got my case transferred to CSC on Aug. 20 and I have not heard a damn thing. Nov 20 is coming up which is almost 90 days. Also I even contacted my congressman and he inquired when it was at VSC and Congressman came back with standard message that USCIS sent...wait 6 more months.

Whats the offical rule after file gets transferred? 30 days or 90 days. Anyone got links?

Mike & Julie and Azer_2000,

I was stuck in the same boat as you guys. I was a Feb 2008 VSC filer who was transferred to CSC 8/27/08...from then on there were no touches on my case while I saw all the other transfers being approved in Sept 2008.

So as soon as the CSC processing dates rolled over to 6 months, I contacted my congressman. They sent an inquiry on 10/27 and we were APPROVED on 10/31...yes today was my lucky day!!

Getting someone to make an inquiry was the only thing that rattled the cages on my case...hopefully you guys can get some results that way too.

Good Luck

Thanks bmeg. My husband was hesitating to contact his congressman thinking he'd be too busy with the elections. But I guess you just proved that theory wrong!

All elected officials have staff working in their offices year round and no matter that its election time, they're still doing constituency work. Its rarely the actual elected official the looks into your case, rather one of their office assistants. They contact whichever government body on the behalf of the elected official.

So contact your congressman - I can assure you there's someone there working on his behalf so he can handle all the election related matters.

I will contact congressman tomorrow as well. Hope it will work out this time.
