Hello everybody

Let me start with this!!..

I'm so glad that i found this website, its been so helpful and its so nice to see other people share opinions and they're expressions about something that causes so much controversy.

Thank You

I need to ask some questions regarding my case

I've been with my husband for 3 years now.. and we have been married for 1..

I haven't filed anything yet because I'm misinformed and I don't know where to start

My husband is a Mexican citizen, he entered the US with a Mexican visa and passport, we got married here in the US on January this year. I'm an American Citizen.

Now Ive been hearing all this answers from a lot of people, and I wanna know what can I do to start getting his paperwork done

Ive been hearing Adjustment of Status might be the best

Should I hire an attorney or should I send the papers myself

Any help would be appreciated

I honestly want to get my husband his Permanent Resident Card

and hes eager to get it too

Thank You so much!

He may be eligible to adjust status from within the states. Have a look a this GUIDE from the VJ Guides section, for more details. Keep researching throughout this site, there's a lot of valuable info you will need to know and be informed.

Many people complete the process without the assistance of counsel, so hiring a lawyer is not necessary, but if you feel uncomfortable with filling out detailed forms and perhaps feel you cannot be attentive enough to detail, then by all means consult with an attorney. Just make sure he/she is qualified, fairly priced, and will see your case through personally, not farm it out to his legal assistant or someone within his/her office.

Good luck,

He entered legally with a passport, the tourist b1/b2 Mexican visa, he entered 3 years ago, he probably overstayed for like a year and since then never left the US. He doesn't have any arrest or charges

What type of visa? A tourist visa?

Yes a tourist visa

He entered 3 years ago and probably overstayed by a year or so? He is still here and has never left? Then he has overstayed of at least 2.5 years... however, at this point 1.0 or 2.5 is not a big difference to his situation.
