Photo sizes for medical and interview

I'm having a hard time determining whether the photographs for my medical and interview are supposed to be Canadian passport standard or US passport standard. My panel physician's website simply states "Three passport photographs per applicant", but I can't find any information confirming what size.

The interview photographs are equally confusing. The Department of State's site gives the requirements as 2 US standard, but then says only 1 in their FAQ's. Meanwhile the supplement for the Montreal Consulate states Canadian standard and gives no quantities.

Can anyone tell me for sure?

I believe they are US size photographs. I had 3 sets done in the Canadian size and then recut them at home myself to measure 2 inches by 2 inches.

The instructions from my immigration doctor said to bring only 2 photos. If its a concern, perhaps call the clinic to confirm if they need 2 or 3 photos.

I brought 2 for the medical, and sent 2 with my DS-230 application. Because I am a worrisome spaz I brought 2 more to the interview just in case. I didn't need those last two.

Hope that helps.

I agree with catt. I don't know if anywhere in this process I got Canadian sized passport pictures...I always got US sized ones. As far as how many to bring to the interview, I believe I got 3, and they used 2. I also brought 2 to the Consulate. I think I was confused as to how many to get as well when I was going through it. I just made plenty, had extra left over, to ensure that I'd have enough.

Agree with Cat and Carla, i'm 100% certain they want the U.S. passport size photo.

I also agree that the information is wrong in some places (but this is U.S. immigration after all - consistency does not abound).

For instance, in my Husband's interview letter they told him to bring 'the correct amount' of photos at 2" x 2" (5 cm x 5 cm) - they never state what that 'correct amount' is - so he took 3 to the medical and 2 to the interview I believe (they didn't even use the 2 he took to Montreal).

On the travel.state.gov webpage, for the interview photos, it states the same measurements as appeared in the inteview letter.

However, if you email Montreal - and get the auto-respond email back, they send you a list of FAQ's and state:

Q6: What photos do I need to bring?

A: 4 color passport photos are required. 3 are needed to complete the medical; the remaining 1 is needed for the actual interview. The required size is typical for passports: 1½ inches by 1½ inches (5 cm x 5 cm). It is always a good idea to bring an extra photo in. For more detailed information on photo requirements, please visit: http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/immigrant.../info_3746.html.

Miraculously 5 cm shrinks and becomes 1.5 inches - and conflicts with the info in the link they provide, guess no one bothered to actually read it.
